My great uncle Lieutenant Harvey Burnard of the South Saskatchewan Regiment died on July 25, 1944. He was killed in action I think in one of the attempts to take Verrieres Ridge. I found this video while looking for more information, 79 years later to the week, of that campaign.

Awesome video thank you for these videos! As a Canadian veteran myself it’s nice too see you present this. My grandfathers served in the Canadian Army in WW2, Combat Engineer, and dispatch rider for the Toronto Scottish Regiment. Father-in-law served in Italy with the British Columbia Dragoon’s. My father was in the Royal Canadian Navy, and I served in the Canadian Forces in the Logistics branch supporting the Strathconas, Patricia’s, and Royal Canadian Air Force, for a break. Very proud military history in my family and unknown by most Canadians, thank you for trying.

Maybe one of them knew my Father, he was in the Toronto Scottish at that time and loved catching a lift with the dispatch riders. I have a picture of him on a Norton.

I am presently a (70) year old Canadian and have always been interested in [WW-II] history. My father living in Czechoslovakia was conscripted in [WW-II] to fight against the Russians at the age of (18). You are a historian and know the poem {1984} 'Charge of the Light Brigade' (600 Soldiers) slaughtered. (July 25, 1944) {Around 515 Infantry}, young Canadians were slaughtered 'Charging against the Germans'. Your Video: (1:21 / 5:24). Using "Google Map" I have searched and unable to locate the exact location of 'Verrières Ridge'. What road "D#" were you located at ? There is 'Not' even a large brass plaque engraving mounted on a large stone wall. (Why ?).. - Thank You -
