I don't think Dooku would kill Qui-Gon, but subdue him and try to tempted him to the dark side. Why? Dooku and Jinn's relationship were like father-son.

I appreciate your putting my comment in this video. I had no idea you remembered it. It means a lot to me. :) It would be nice to see a novel based solely on Tyranus. Somehow, I had a feeling Tyranus would outclass Qui-Gon, but I didn't think it would be _that_ easy. There are a couple of things missing from Qui-Gon's repertoire, such as his pain threshold and injury count, his possible use of Makashi, his lessons to Obi-Wan, and his other Force abilities, most of which can be explained in the _Jedi Apprentice_ series. And let's not forget how he had at least some skill with psychological warfare, as described in his duels with Xanatos. Also, Tyranus was nearly killed by Talzin via voodoo doll. Did you see all the torture he took? Meanwhile, I'm pretty much satisfied that another Sith Lord has won an awesome match! Can't wait for the next one!

Before I watch, I'm putting my money on Dooku. No way in hell Qui-Gon could beat him.

When people say that Dooku would be beaten by Maul, I don't understand. This the perfect showcase of Dooku's skills. There really is no doubt as to who would win but people seem to underestimate Dooku due to him only having 2 battles and one of them he gets killed. He lasted against Yoda for a bit, totally bested Obi-wan and Anakin, bested Obi-wan a second time but was still cut down by Anakin (i'd say it was simply underestimating Anakin).

If this were a podcast, I would just love it. Your scripting is absolutely amazing, and you have a voice that would be easy to listen to for long periods of time (which is definitely key for a podcast, lol).

Love your videos, but this matchup seems rather silly because there is no universe where Qui Gon could EVER compare to Dooku. I much prefer fights with characters that I'm not so familiar with and have to actually guess at the outcome or matchups of opponents close enough in their skills that the verdict is more up in the air.

I was thinking about it the other day and dooku is actually one of my favorite sith I love his dueling style and there's just something about him that's so cool and fascinating

I'm with you, while I do love Darth Vader, I'm probably getting there with getting sick of Maul and would want a book that explores Dooku's and Qui Gon Jin's relationship.

I believe the song at the end is sung by Christopher Lee, the man who plays Count Dooku in star wars. He has quite a few operatic metal albums.

Yeah I couldn't see this being considered a fair fight, even before watching the video. It's always cool to see master vs student stuff, but when it comes to these two Jinn is simply outclassed by Dooku. I love Jinn but there was only one way this could have ended. Anyway suggestions: 1. Jerec (Jedi Knight) vs. Darth Malak (KOTOR). 2. Kyle Katarn vs. Mace Windu. 3. Any variations with those listed above.

While I do agree that Dooku would win, I think the disparity between their swordsmanship is smaller than people give Jinn credit for. While Qui-Gon's blade-work and movement comes from Ataru, he actually fights like a lightweight version of Darth Vader after the Mustafar mishap. What I mean by this is that rather than bouncing around and flipping and tumbling, his style is very straight to the point: Strike to finish, and put enough weight behind every move so that your opponent has to defend it. Every strike thrown by Qui-Gon is meant to do serious damage, never letting his opponent become comfortable. Add the occasional kick, punch or elbow strike and you have a somewhat clunky, but very effective style of fighting. I still don't think it would be enough to defeat Dooku, barring sheer stupidity on the latter's part. Dooku's style is just to efficient and while I do consider Qui-Gon to have have a major strength advantage (He's a big dude) like you said, if Dooku can hold of a rage fueled Anakin for so long then Qui-Gon shouldn't be to difficult. The only way Qui-Gon could win (in my opinion) would be if Dooku was stupid enough to just stand in front of Jinn and simply go blow to blow, because that's pretty much Jinn's specialty, and it's also a form of fighting where endurance and brute strength plays a major role. But seeing as Dooku has never been depicted fighting like that (he hates fighting like that) he shouldn't have to much trouble dealing with Jinn. But I still feel people aren't giving Qui-Gon the credit he deserves.

completely agree with the conclusion and reasoning - one very small point about anakin defeating dooku: it was only after Kenobi was unconscious that Anakin got any traction at all against the count and my impression was that palpatine then felt free to use the force to help the bumbling skywalker without concern that he (palpatine) would be detected as a force user one thing about dooku (speaking only about canon, not the expanded universe) was that he, dooku, was remarkably restrained and lenient when dealing with skywalker, Kenobi & yoda (at the end of aotc) when yoda was completely involved with both hands trying to lift the tank dooku knocked down with one, he (dooku) could have slaughtered all three but he didn't and that's something that I think, really set him apart from the other sith imo

I dont exactly understand how this is a fair fight. Dooku outclasses Qui-Gon on every relevant front. He was among the best swordsmen of the era, while Qui-Gon wasnt and knew Qui-Gon's technique very well. Dooku has far more Force abilities at his disposal, with more skill at applying them in combat. Simply put, Qui-Gon has no chance

Great video, the only thing that I would have to suggest is that when comparing two people who exist at the same time is to compare them at that point in time. Because if Qui-Gon Jinn had survived his encounter with Darth Maul who knows how much more powerful he could have become.

I agreed with the outcome full heartedly, and honestly, your research proved Qui-Gon to be more powerful than I initially thought (especially since I thought his fighting form resembled more Niman, but I learned something new! :D). I realy enjoy your Versus Videos. You were the youtuber who introduced this kind of very interesting videos to me. But there is one thing I want to ask you, wouldnt you say that the displays of powers (especialy force powers) as shown in the first clone wars cartoon series, were a little bit to much over the top to count them? I mean I would never doubt that Count Dooku is extremly powerfull, but levitating through the force... I dont like the thought :D

100% agreed. There was just no contest here whatsoever. The only saving grace Qui-Gon has is the ability to survive death - which is exactly the ability he'd need most against Dooku because he's not gonna survive. The two had totally different priorities in their studies. Dooku was all about combat, and combat application of the Force, while Jinn was focused on the philosophical side of things. He just wasn't an elite warrior. I also love the idea of a book being made about these two, especially since an exploration of their differences would be a book in itself. PS: I exploded laughing when one of Christopher Lee's metal songs busted out around the end. Nice touch, man!

Great breakdown but Evan I think you should do more even fights. I mean it was sort of obvious who the victor would be here... And not saying everybody knew but most people coming to these channels have at least a little knowledge of the EU and the individuals feats and in this battle anybody who's seen anything of Dooku should know the outcome.

I think you should do darth nihl vs darth malgus or darth sidious vs darth nihilus, either one would be cool.
