You guys in America safety is not important no safety screens on the outside of building no scaffold when pouring columns. In Australia we form the deck walls and columns and pour columns and walls before steel is put down and safety is paramount in Australia

If the core wall is erected 2 to 3 stories higher than the slab, how will both elements be connected later on?

On this job the slab and core were poured on the same day. The core is usully ahead on structural steel jobs and they set Embeds with bolts or just plates in which the steel will connect later.
