what i like to do is import the video into after effects, and then, on the tracker window, select track motion. then press the scale and rotation tick boxes and place the two trackers on the subjects eyes and press stabilise motion, it keeps the subjects eyes perfectly centered and its very easy

Wow - I have been trying to pull off this shot for years and gave up on the idea but this gives the same effect cheers very cool

The downside is the loss of resolution (unless your software has some kind of advanced upscaling functionality or you're filming at a higher resolution than you intend to export).

It would also be fun and interesting to apply that scaling to a hyperlapse sequence.
