Work in EMS and pretty tough on my gear. Had mine for about 2yrs and still looks brand new. Love Vertx stuff.

Nice to see Vertx making all kinds of quality gear. Got my kryptek typhon set from them and I really like the quality to the point where I will be trying to get 2 more sets in kryptek highlander.

I am a packoholic and I picked up the EDC Gamut a few months back when OpticsPlanet had them on sale for $125. It is a very well thought out pack and it is full of features and doesn't scream out tactical. I has become my EDC pack due to it's versatility. When I need to carry a little bit more I use my First Tactical Tactix 1 Day Plus. It is also very versatile and even allows for a rifle sleeve. Picture a 5.11 Rush 24 all grown up and on some serious steroids.

Grey Ghost Gear has some interesting packs and bags. Any thoughts on their products or plans to review them in the future? I've been using a Maxpedition Falcon 2 for over six years now and it still looks brand new, despite having been covered in the infamous red Sedona clay/mud. I'll admit that it is not "grey man" by any means, but I also do not walk around with it in public. It goes from dwelling to dwelling and carries a plethora of items I do not immediately need on me. I suppose that kind of brings up the question of what exactly is considered "EDC". Meaning, does it have to be an item that you carry in your pockets at all times, or can a bag that you pack away yet bring with you whenever you leave your home; still be considered EDC items..? Keep up the good work my friend.

Would this work for a collapsed carbine bag? That seems to be a hard item to find these days, something that could have a pistol or SBR that doesn't scream "TACTICAL!" is tough to find these days.

I've been waiting for this review from you ever since I saw pics of you wearing. It. I have tons of vertx stuff but I was curious about your opinion of it. I'm kind of glad they're a little unknown cause I don't get tons of looks at my pack. Techies seem to love it though.

I just bought this second hand. Hows this bag hold up with rain in your experience? I got the brown version. Doesnt seem to have that water resistance outer layer like the grey one

Mario Rodriguez it's a big backpack in length and size. vertex sells a smaller pack that looks more like a school backpack.

Is the main compartment big enough to be used for a college student to carry textbooks, binders, materials, etc.? Been looking for a backpack that I can use to conceal carry my handgun and have quick access to it. Also want to be able to use it for school.

It is plenty big enough for college student day to day carry of books, but also your CC in states that allow campus carry. You will need to choose between the Gamut and Gamut+

Would this hold a 11.5 inch barrel (birdcage) AR with a Law Tactical folder?

An 11.5" SBR w/ an AAC 51T mount is just shy of 22" in length (which is the advertised height of of this bag). An A2 birdcage FH would be a tad shorter... The EDC Gamut + (Plus) is 24"in height and will hold the same 11.5" SBR in the back "gun compartment" if you break it down. The Law Tactical makes it too long to zip that compartment closed, though. If you want to use the interior main compartment, the 11.5" should (theoretically) fit in either Gamut bag. The Grey Ghost Gear Apparition SBR Bag will hold an 11.5" SBR w/ Law Tactical folded quite easily.

5.11 amp bags are great and can be configured multiple ways. They don’t look as tactical as the rush series. Look at 5.11tactical.com at the new LV18 it is nice.

Anyone try out the WALMART MOTORCYCLE WATERPROOF GEAR BAG? Its made to slip over a sissy bar on a harley etc, and it appears to be some type of sharkskin type of material, and looks durable enough, at just under $40, Im just wondering if anyone had any experience with these over a year? Thanks for the review, its hard to find durable backpacks these days, even the military surplus stores near me dont seem to have affordable durable packs anymore,( I liked the canvas packs from years ago, and I had some korean war- vietnam war era canvas packs that seemed to last forever, but were unfortunate victims of theft), they just dont make em like they used to, and its getting hard to find packs with a rainflap over the zippers, making it at least safe from rain,( with some waterproof spray, or scotchguard, anything with flaps can be made rain proof, without flaps, its not really rain proof, no matter what the tag states,)

Customer service is brutal. I purchased several items including 2 bags. I figured out what was going to work for me and sent a bag and 2 accessories back. They’ve had it for 2 weeks (ups tracking) and I haven’t been refunded. One lady lied 8 days ago and since then apparently only one person can look at it but unfortunately she doesn’t take phone calls or return emails. Never had that problem with Vanquest.

the bag is NOT made in the U.S., for the price you should go stick with ANY Eberlestock bag and you will be very happy. I'm not sure why more channels aren't pushing more U.S. made gear...kinda sad.

+lego batman do your research and you will find that out; the Chinese, Indian, Pakistani etc. gear DOES NOT hold up in the field and its about quality and buying once, and also about supporting American businesses

Considering its foreign cheap labor made i'd say its worth $40 instead of $160. I honestly wish someone in the US would make a good cotton canvas bag with steel buckles instead of plastic and snaps instead of velcro. I cant stand velcro, it amazes me that people actually think velcro is cool when they are actually getting dirt cheap quality. Sorry to rant man but the "china" bags are a total rip-off for what you pay.
