This is definately one of the best captures on KZfaq. If u take it frame by frame, u can see a failed stepped leader trying to leap from the top of the SUV. Meanwhile the actual bold strikes up from the ground into the electricity cables and continues into the sky further down the wire near the pole!!! A classic perfect strike!!!

that beeping you hear seconds before the thunder claps is the charge running through the ground and effecting electrical products in your home or around you that are plugged in.

Really cool capture though... I once had this happen - in the middle of the night. Two bolts came down right on my street, there was no warning beforehand, and no more afterwards... Scared the crap outta me!

Also what sometimes happens is lightning can travel several miles outside a storm cloud (arc lightning), landing somewhere litteraly out of the blue.

a positive bolt... the bolt also lasts a bit long, nice nice!

U can see the first bolt struck this side of the tree, then a second struck the far side in a split second.

Not very special, maybe a thunderstorm popped up above you, so you had the first lightning strike of it. It can also be an very unactive cell that produces lightning very sometimes, that slightly moved to you.
