I recently bought one of these in the regular size. Despite popular belief; you can easily roll this pad up and put it back in the stuff sack, even with the blow up bag rolled up with the pad, it's a matter of how you roll up the pad. 1. You fold the first 2 baffles on each side over towards the middle of the pad with the valve to the outside to make it easy for air to escape 2. Fold over again right down the middle so the 2 folds you made before are on top of each other and pad is not as wide now 3. Fold the blow up bag to the same width the folded pad is and place it on the pad making all air is out 4. Roll the entire thing up nice and tight, when you get to the end put your weight on the pad to squeeze out the last bit of air(make sure you're not on anything sharp) 5. Put it in the stuff sack I def like the one way valve system, makes inflating very easy, easy to adjust firmness, also the separate opening with no valve makes it easy to deflate. I see a lot of mentions about the patch kit that comes with the pad, for some reason no one ever mentions that there's an extra valve in the kit as well. I use the included inflation bag, just blow a little air in it to expand it, then capture the volume of air and roll the top closed and squeeze the air into the mattress; takes about 12 goes to fully inflate, quicker and easier than the 32 full breaths it takes me to blow it up by mouth, and well worth the extra 3 oz it adds to my base weight.

Driving myself crazy trying to buy gear for my upcoming never-ending around-the-world bike tour titled "Ride Till I Die!" Drone: Week. Thanks to Ryan van Duzer. :D Got the bike. Took a month to decide on. Got the bags; two months. Got the sleeping bag; three months. Mirrors: two weeks. Lights: A month. Sleeping pad: two weeks. It turned out to be crap. Back at it. Week later saw your video in the stream. Day later: Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Ultra to go with my Big Agnes 20 degree biggie bag. Thanks for making it an easy decision. Fastest one so far! I use mine with the pump house inflation bag. It only takes 3.5 bags worth of air and the pad is fully inflated. Great pad. Also, Big Agnes stands by their products. If your pad has a defect they will replace it. I had an air core mattress from 2006 that wouldn’t hold air and they sent me the above mattress for free in 2017!

Bought it in 2024 on sale for 45$ - RW size This is incredible comfort for that price I owned STS Insulated UL, Exped Synmat Mummy, Exped Ultra 3r DUO LW and Exped Ultra LW. Big agnes air core is my favourite

I've tried several cheaper Amazon pads under $30 and they are horrible for side sleepers. I got the 25 x 72 version of this pad and at 5 feet 10 inches 220lbs this pad works great!

@@calitocolon1655 I'm very cheap but I came to the realization after years of suffering that it's worth the money to buy the best pad you can afford. I've used this pad on a cheap cot and it works great! I've also used it by itself on the floor of my van sleeping at rest stops. I've got zero complaints.

@@calitocolon1655 I live in Florida and it works fine in warm weather. You can put it inside a sleeping bag liner to keep it from getting sticky if you're sweating.

Very informative video, thank you! but If you blow into the sleeping pad, the water from your lungs is transferred into the sleeping pad, making it colder at night, messes with the R value .. use a pump sack or device to pump it up.

I combined this sleeping pad with the Big Agnes Pumphouse Ultra and it is awesome! The Pumphouse is a dry bag with a valve to connect onto the inflation valve in the pad. Just open the dry bag and it ducks in air. Close the bag and roll it down to push air into the pad. For me, 3 bags of air fully inflate the pad with no hyperventilating on my part. The dry bag doubles for me as a bag for my entire sleep system (pad and sleeping bag). I love it when I can get dual use out of gear.

I bought HILLPOW Comfortable Double Self-Inflating Air Sleeping Pad at only 65.99$, at first, I just wanna have one pad for my children to play on, but it surprised me a lot: you never know that how much air it allowed in. It is big to roll up on and the attached pillow make it very comfortable to sleep on, overall you really can’t beat the comfort for the price.

Luke, just a comment on your video, you should never blow up a sleeping pad as it adds moisture to the inside, which affects the insulation and also causes bacteria ad mould, always use the blow bag provided or a portable mini pump

That stopper is called a "check valve", much like a valve on your sump pump. It only allows things to flow in 1 direction, very useful.

The Big Agnes Sleeping Pads are really the best I have found, I have tried others but like Big Agnes best, I don't put it back in the compression sack, seems like it takes up more room in my pack,So I just fold it and place it in the bottom of my pack. Great Review Bro. Thanks for posting

Thanks for the review. I ended up buying it and can add a couple things: (1) noise. All air pads have some noise, but this one is on the quieter side. much more quiet than the Thermarest Neoairs, not as quiet as the Big Agnes Q cores. (2) stuffing back in. I've actually had no issues putting it back in the bag. I fold it lengthwise in quarters, spout facing out, and then roll it up (3) the one way fill valve is AWESOME. You could blow it most of the way up and just walk away from it leaving the valve open for hours before finishing up. And that valve is the easiest way to adjust the mattress in the middle of the night I've ever done.

I have the old model air core and q-core and to deflate and pack them up is excruciatingly long. Once I saw the redesigned valve I bought the q-core SLX model. The new valve is awesome. Pad is warm, but I also have yet to take it out below 30 degrees. The stuff sack is just as much as a pain too. Overall though, the new valve makes it worth it. Those looking to save a few ounces, get the q core SLx, but the insulated air core is just as good.

I always fold my pad and put it against my back in the pack. Takes up less room more comfort on back and no weight of sack. If pack has hydration sleeve I usually slide it in there.

Their website says you can’t store it in the compression bag. “Each Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Ultra Double-Wide inflatable sleeping pad includes a stuff sack and repair kit. NOTE: Always store the pad unrolled with the valve open.” Do you store it inrolled?

Hi Luke I've got the black Alpkit version of this one, although it has the old style air peace that you mentioned later .. would of been a great idea if alpkit had sorted this one out .. super comfy 👍 mine packs smaller that yours .. maybe it's a fraction narrower in depth not sure .. but great review...

There's nothing wrong with the stuff sack (you mistakenly called it a compression bag at the beginning), you just need to learn how to properly roll up the pad! Another thing certainly worth mentioning is that Big Agnes customer support is among the best teams I've ever dealt with!

A nice pad for sure Luke. Just a thought though... why don't sleeping pad manufacturers add a raised "pillow" area at the top of the pad? It could save weight and space in your pack :) Thanks for the review, as always.

That looks like a good piece of gear but I don't think it's for me. I say this because I can never get comfortable on the pads with the Air Tubes. (Not because of their insulation but because of the ridges.) I think I will stick with my Auto Inflate Pad and add a reflective pad for the colder months. Good review by the way. Ed

you dont have to roll it and stuff it in the sack, just fold it flat and slide it to the back of your pack, like this you also will save more space.

I had I question I was going to get this sleeping pad, and the big agnes lost dog sleeping bag. I was wondering if you know anything about the big agnes lost dog sleeping bag,15 degree version. Just wanting to know if it is roomy? I am claustrophobic and cannot do full on mummy bags I have tried. I end up unzipping them and just having them just over me like a blanket. The big agnes lost dog seems from the specs to be quite big. I was wondering your opinion if you have tried one. If not does anyone else have any thoughts on the big agnes lost dog 15 degree sleeping bag? Thanks for all the great videos.

How well would you say this would fair in climates, im talkin 80% humid, at 90-100 degree during the day. with like 80 degree at night, with possibly even more humid during the night then the day, would the insulation value of it, keep you hot?

I heard that insulation does not keep you any hotter, however there is reflective material in it and I'm not sure if that would make you hotter.

5 yrs old this vid . Soooo their product has gone up over 100% I just got the B.A. Q core delux aaaaand it usually goes for 200$-220$ , and I’m sure it’s pretty much the same sleeping pad . For 200$ smh . Actually I bought it on offer up for 40$ brand new , never used . I would never pay 200$ for a sleeping pad . It’s redickaliss. Take your time , look around , meditate on it :) and you will manifest what you need . But going out to the brick and mortar big box stores is highway murder !!! Good luck

I realize technology had come a long way but does anyone remember air mattresses of vinyl that cost less than $10. The size and weight and insulation of the modern ones are hard to beat. I still have a self inflating pad that is over 15 years old.
