I really couldn't figure out how this thing was going to work when I was buying it but now I get it after using it for the first time. The instructions absolutely suck but this video will show you exactly how to use it and how easy and effective it is. remember to lubricate your o-rings with olive oil or some equivalent food grade oil and they should last quite a while. I absolutely love this design and it is so so easy to use and get effective fills from your larger volume CO2 tank for refills.

Thank you for making this video. Note that CGA320 refers to the valve on the CO2 tank. It is the standard fitting for CO2 gas cylinders having the CGA 320 male thread (0.825 inch at 14 threads per inch). All newer paintball and all industrial CO2 gas cylinders are CGA 320. Also for those that are not having luck transferring CO2, ensure you freeze the cylinder before refilling and ensure your CO2 tank has a siphon tube to flow liquid CO2 into the cylinder. If your CO2 Tank does not have a siphon tube you can turn the bottle upside down to flow liquid CO2 down into the empty cylinder.

One thing from filling scuba tanks for several years, I'd point the tank vertically not horizontally, if possible, where if the thumb screw or tank fails while pressurizing, the tank will hit the floor and not shoot across the room. I understand compressed air is a higher pressure, but pressure is pressure. Great video, now Im gonna save some money!!

The "straw" in the larger tank goes down to the bottom of the main CO2 20lb tank to pick up liquid C02 I believe? I know it feeds from the bottom on this particular tank anyway and assume it is feeding liquid into the tank and not just gas? Therefore I don't think I can get away with going vertical on the receiving tank although with over 350 dives under my belt also :) I do get what you are saying for sure. I have had this little tank blow off of the end of a device in this same family type and YES, it did head across the room and hit my washing machine LOL. The way this one is designed though is that it is only forcing air in through the small exhaust pin hole on the side of the brass neck on the receiving tank so there is no real threat of a "rocketing" bottle out of this configuration best I can tell. If anything...the main vertical 20lb bottle would be the one to be blowing gas out if the small bottle got loose somehow (best I can figure from my advanced rocket training ...uuum...nowhere but just joking anyway ;). When my small bottle launched last time it was really just a bit of a "lob" across 6 feet or so...not a rocketing across the room FWIW. It may have hurt if it hit me in the sack or fell on my bare toe but it wasn't too dramatic FWIW. Thanks for watching!!!

Thanks for the video. I am looking into a soda stream or drink mate set up. I am spending too much on seltzer. I think I'd make a rack that supports the CO2 cylinder so it's not hanging all that weight out there on the valve body and adapters. That seems like a recipe for failure down the road.

Possibly misspoke during the video. I like putting out videos on products that really work well for me or on products that are just flat garbage to warn people. However I don't really like going back into my own videos and listening to what I actually said lol. To elaborate, airgas Texas at two separate locations confirmed and specifically stated that all of their 20 lb CO2 tanks that they fill will always be filled with food grade CO2 versus welding grade. Restaurants would definitely be delivered food grade CO2 of course as you stated but I think they fill these smaller ones only with food grade to prevent possible screw-ups by consumers who are doing home brewing and other DIY at home beverage dispensing. When I take my welding tank in to have it filled with CO2 they do ask me which grade I would like it filled with fwiw. Thanks for watching and your input!

Enjoyed your video, so much so I have become a subscriber. Question, how long have your washers lasted? Some people who have the soda stream adaptor have a yellow washer in the adapter and it appears these yellow washers break or blow out. By putting olive oil on your black washers it appears that your washers last longer. I would like your thoughts on this matter. In any event you have convinced me that buying an adapter is absolutely essential if you want to take full advantage of a great product- the soda stream system.

Glad I saw your question. I still don't have a good routine of looking at my questions on my KZfaq channel. I Go through a canister of CO2 about every two and a half weeks at least so I would say that I have refilled no less than 15 or 20 of these canisters are ready and there's no sign of fatigue on the o-rings. I really do feel that being extremely gentle with the insertion and using the olive oil technique on the o-rings should preserve these reasonably indefinitely. But I do know what you mean as far as them getting torn up. I had a previous unit that I did not use the olive oil technique on and they got tore up after only two or three uses. That being said, since there's no caution in the owner's manual I also would not hesitate to simply reorder a replacement unit off of Amazon, take the o-rings out of it and return it to the manufacturer with the broken o-rings if that was to happen... If they do not make o-ring or parts available for this unit. I don't have much of a conscience for stuff like that if people sell stuff like this without replacement parts. That's just me and it might not be a solution for everyone though

Thanks! For me, the domestic standard is Hungary (Linde gas) and the connection is W21.8-14. Therefore, different connections can be chosen due to differences in the country and region. Someone else wrote it correctly, thanks to him. The pressure gauge does not show the actual filled content. It can also show the appropriate pressure in the gas state. It can be deceiving. The transfer must be in a liquid state. There are large bottles that have a "dipstick" siphon construction, the result is actual liquid transfer, the bottle stands on its feet. There is a bottle from which you can only get liquid upside down. May vary by manufacturer. Yes, the weight measurement also gives results about the transferred quantity. The difference between the industrial and food sectors should also be taken into account, even though both use the same gas, cleanliness is a priority for us humans. And watch out for heat dissipation, danger of freezing!

Boyle’s Law. When the canister is cold, the pressure inside the tank is lower than if it was room-temperature; when filling the canister, you’ll get more gas flowing in.

I'm three subscribers away from getting to 500 and then I really want to up my video editing on my channel lol. The reason you freeze the bottle is because it allows more of the compressed CO2 gas from the donor tank to The smaller container. It makes a massive difference

If you have two o-rings currently inside the device the other ones are just spares. Lubricating these primary ones with the olive oil will definitely extend the life. I have filled no less than 25 of these canisters so far using that technique and I have never changed the o-rings out yet

@AndTodaysProjectIs
@AndTodaysProjectIs Ай бұрын
When you had your canister refilled at the gas supply, did you receive your original personal tank back or just a refilled one that was previously owned by someone else? The type of tank that you need must have a straw internally that siphons from the bottom of the tank. There are two versions of these tanks (or maybe more). If you do not have your original tank after the refill it's possible that you received one in exchange that does not have the straw that feeds off the bottom. If that is the case then you would need to invert your tank completely upside down to do this refill process. There are other videos on KZfaq that show this process with inverting the tank that you may want to look into to try. It certainly will not hurt to try it that way to rule that out.

Are you freezing your canister? If not put it in the freezer overnight first. Also, verify that your main CO2 supply tank has the type of straw that feeds from the bottom of your tank. Distributor cell these large CO2 tanks in two different versions basically. One of them has a straw inside that pulls the liquid CO2 from the bottom and the other one has no straw. If yours has no straw then you must turn your tank upside down in order for it to dispense liquid CO2. There are other KZfaq videos on that procedure as well

@AndTodaysProjectIs
@AndTodaysProjectIs 5 ай бұрын
I have never noticed that it does not last as long And it really does not make any sense that that would be the case. If you have the same amount of weight as the original canister then it should give you exactly the same amount of CO2 delivered into your beverages if all the other conditions remain the same. It is imperative that you freeze the bottle for at least overnight before doing this to get the most into the cylinder

All in all I have filled at least 25 of these canisters if I had to guess right now off of the exact same CO2 tank fill from when I purchased it and originally filled it. However this particular refill device I would say I have about 15 refills under my belt on with the same o-rings using the olive oil lubrication technique and a gentle insertion and extraction. On my first refill adapter I did rip through the o-rings pretty quickly because I was not lubricating them and I was not being gentle either. This device is different than my first device though and I like this design much much better. It seems like it will work for a long time using this olive oil lubrication technique. I remember doing the initial calculation of how many complete refills I should get off of a 20 lb tank. I broke it down to around $2.25 per refill at that time but I cannot remember exactly what the number was to be honest. I'm sure that will get you the answer to what you are wondering or at least very close to the ballpark. It is also my understanding that the companies that refill the 20 lb canisters can only fill them up to 80% capacity when they fill them up. I'm not sure if I am off on that or not but that is what I think I remember understanding.

You have to open the large tank valve very slowly, there is a check value in the pink the bottles the prevents refills - the check value is initiated when too much pressure tries to enter at once, doing a slow fill at the start will prevent this@@pepelepew2690
@AndTodaysProjectIs
@AndTodaysProjectIs 4 ай бұрын
NO. The pink tank absolutly does NOT need to be empty. Since this video I have stopped draining my tanks completely. I just shove them in the freezer over night, connect them, turn the valve on the main tank open and when it stops hissing I remove it and weigh it to make sure I get at least 1000 grams to 1250'ish max. I'm not worried about having a few grams too much gas in there personally but if you want to be safer about it shoot for whatever you find the weight of a new canister to be or use my video for that since I weighed one out in the vid brand new :) Thanks for watching. You MUST freeze your pink bottle before trying this.

@32ricke may have it correct on their reply to you. Give us an update and let us know here if slowing down the transfer worked. Also...as others have mentioned, you need to have the type of C02 main tank that has the straw down to the bottom of the tank...OR...you will need to turn your main tank upside down to get the liquid CO2 out into your small tank.

Is it necessary to put these in the freezer? I'm wondering if that's why mine goes from about 740g up to 825g when filled without the freezer. When I buy one of these tanks new, i get about a month of use out of it. Right now, i can pressurize like 2-3 bottles, then the next bottles seem to be doing the same but there will be barely any carbonation and it tastes awful. So as of now, I put co2 in 2 sodastream bottles and then i have to top the co2 tank off or else the next bottle isn't very carbonated, even if i do like 10 one-second pumps. Is mine shooting out too much co2 in the first 10 pumps? Or am i just barely getting anything in there from not freezing? Anyone else having this issue?
@AndTodaysProjectIs
@AndTodaysProjectIs 2 ай бұрын
If you want a high volume charge on your canister It needs to be frozen before filling with CO2. You also need to verify what type of CO2 tank you have that you are filling these off of. To my knowledge, there are two versions. One of those types of tanks has a dip straw that goes all the way from the top of the tank at the fill gauge down to the bottom of the tank. On these types of tanks you do not need to turn them upside down in order to fill your sodaStream tank. They feed directly from the bottom via that stainless steel straw inside of the serving tank. On the other type of tank that you will find out there there is no dip straw and thus you must invert your feeding tank completely upside down in order for any liquid CO2 to the exchanged into your receiving canister. If I was to guess, you might have the second type and when you try to fill your receiving canister you're only getting compressed CO2 air but not actual CO2 liquid.
