I have been watching and enjoying your reports for quite a few years now, but recently I have noticed no gaps between each report. One story just seems to go straight ito the next, with no (verbal) pause. In my mind it didn't used to be like that. However, I'm no spring chicken so it could just be me. Whatever, keep up the good work. Your show is far better than any other 'expat' news reports I have heard elsewhere.

Good luck with that....there is rarely follow up stories including the outcome of court cases. There were a couple of incidents in the last year or so of expats getting shot and killed after traffic disputes but nothing on the perpetrator's eventual penalty. I get the impression the Thai legal system doesn't like scrutiny.

most places wouldn't even bother reporting this crime. There are no crime free areas, just high crime and low crime. follow the "rules of stupid" and you should be fine.

I recently moved to Thailand from the US. I feel 50x safe anywhere in Thailand than the 10 places I lived back there. I could walk around with cash in my hand and not be confronted here. In the US, all I had to do was leave the house to have trouble seek me out. Besides, you are watching a newscast. Do you expect them to report all on non-crimes?

I've been traveling to Thailand for over 20 years. Crime remains negligible. Crime impacting tourists even lower. I live in the US and crime is much worse here. Thailand is a safe country to visit and live in as a foreigner. Just don't be the drunken idiot making bad decisions at 3am and you'll be fine.

That hairdresser will have his stay cut short. Hair today gone tomorrow. I bet the fine will trim is bank account. A bit more than close shave I would say. Always make sure you have the right documents; short cuts never pay. Was he in it for the fringe benefits? He should have read the perms and conditioning of his visa. Being arrested was a hair razing experience. I heard they secured his cell with dreadlocks? Ok, I’ll cut it out now and show myself the door.

It's Thai law, but in my opinion, sometimes they should take a step back and take a different approach to things. Does this person truly hurt Thailand by cutting hair? Does he have employees that are Thai that benefit from his business? If he is successful what is he doing better than Thai hairdressers? But again their law. I guess they don't have to make sense to me, only for me to abide by.

If he is cutting hair he is taking money out of the hands of a licensed person. He owns the business so he is making money off the cut, by cutting it himself he is employing at least one less person.

@@elund408 That thinking is the same racist tropes they us in the US and Europe--"omg, foreigners stealing our jobs" "We must rage and raise our clinched fists in shock and horror" But Is he though? Why is he finding success and the "licensed person" not surpassing him in the industry? Why is there one less person employed if only Thais can cut hair? Wouldn't there be an abundance of Superior places to cut hair that are Thai owned and operated? As I said, which you conveniently chose to disregard, it is their law, I can't change it and I would have to abide by it. But I opine and question things that I find odd and illogical.

If this was an isolated case, no one would probably be interested. Thailand has created a good reputation for itself as a popular tourist destination and many foreigners take advantage of it. In Thailand, there is a problem of foreign unregistered work, a lot of people come from Myanmar, Cambodia and other poorer neighboring countries, which already makes it difficult for Thais to find their own employment. This is why the law is strictly enforced. If you come to work, you need a work permit, very simple.

Foreigners don’t care about Thai politics, why do you insist on reporting this ? Your target audience are foreigners, you give lessons on KZfaq how to speak Thai, the thumbnail you use are always eye catching and never anything to do with politics!! Because you know we don’t care about it, so you use thumbnails aimed directly at English speaking people…. And as soon as you click to watch your asked repeatedly to like and subscribe and to push the bell icon not once but twice, people push the like if they like, not because your always begging us too, all that being said your the best available news outlet here, but it could be so much better 👍

What on earth? I am specifically interested in politics and my Thai language is not yet good enough to fully understand the local news. For me, everything else could be completely removed from the news, only political news. This is a good way to follow things in Thailand, if it doesn't really interest you then don't watch it.
