That river is pretty fast flowing. It has probably washed everything downstream. Could you look further downstream at a place where the flow slows & a curve washes things to one side? Study the dynamics of flowing water in a riverbed.

I came to the same conclusion as you regarding the fast flowing water washing the finds further along. Also, that's a great dry sense of humour you have there!

Tie the rope to the magnet hoop, use the carabineer to secure it to yourself, that magnet gets stuck to something heavy/solid that carabineer will break and the magnet will be lost.

The narrow, bent piece of metal is to tighten the backs of metal picture frames. Wooden frames use wood pieces almost like a shim. I know you cannot always have a prosperous hunt but I don't think this video was upload worthy.
