I love the messages that rappers like Hopsin, Nf, Joyner, and other emotional artists talk about because right now my situation (granted isn’t as bad as Hop’s) is very traumatic because of my moms mindset and selfishness. Songs like these and support from my friends have been keeping my head above water the past 2 years of my life has been in this court battle between a loving caring dad and a selfish blind mom has been hard to deal with knowing what I know about it. If you are still reading, thank you for listening to me story and why I love artists like this. ❤️

Anyone who lived this song cried some grownup tears. It's not something you can understand unless you truly experienced it...and you don't fully understand the impact until you're trying to raise children of your own. I learned quickly how damaged I was. I'm not a perfect father, but I threw out that blueprint years ago.

This song hits so hard. I can relate to it on such a deep level. That moment when he says that your kids might handle situations just like you did, and then it shows Hopsin getting arrested...that hit. You can see a lot of your parents mistakes in yourself, and a lot of times you don't deal with it until adulthood, and some people never deal with it, which is how your parents ended up like they did in he first place. Hopsin outdid himself. Thanks for the reaction. 🖤

idk if you saw or heard about it, but Hop took that soul searching adventure, which lead him to hypnotherapy. So he then took these emotions and even apologized to Dame, which might bring us some more FV content. He dug deep and so he's putting everything out there that was hidden deep within. Shit is inspiring.

I feel like hopsin has really struggled not to be his dad in his relationships. Like hotel in Sydney he had a girl get a restraining order on him after a incident on his first album . I don't think he has hit a girl but I think the anger and aggression is there because it's all he saw growing up....I am really happy to see his video he put out a few days ago saying he's not dealing with the stuff he is talking about in the music he's going to start dropping. He looked truly happy in that video and It was so good to see him doing so much better...

Literally my life at 27 bro...last month dad hit my mom so hard she saw stars, I didnt know that they were fighting, I was on my game but next day I saw a note from my mom saying that. They're not married, they're 50 & all my past relationships have literally been like there's (arguements, never fighting) but it's just fucking crazy how true it is that most relationships you get in if your parents argue or fight will be just like that until you get to find that right girl that relaxes you & loves you fit you. My ex neglected me for 4 years & treated me like a trophy. I cheated on her & peaced the fuck out because I she never left, I tried leaving but she never let me but yea, my parents neglected me as a kid, never wanted for me to have a future, never even wanted me to get my license, my 2 other siblings they did but me they never even tried to get me to grow up. Always blamed me for dumb shit just like my ex.... Luckily, since I've been back after being away for 4 years 7 hours away they actually are trying to better me, but it took about 15 years of fights, arguements even my bro & my dad specially, my bro going to jail, grandma, nana, dog died, uncle suicide & cousin died all within 7-8 years. 16-23/24

Let’s go! New Hopsin! Ernest, if you haven’t, check out the video before this by Hop. It’s basically a PSA for what the new album will be. No need to react to it, but think it’s well worth your time. Edit: That’s something I didn’t consider, the kids that get to escape for a while at school now can’t because of Covid. I know that amongst Military families, or at least Army families in Korea, domestic abuse shot up exponentially due to Covid. Absolutely heartbreaking.

It was kinda crazy to me when Hop said he still loved both of his parents. I would think he hated his dad after that. I haven't experienced my parents being abusive, so I can only imagine what it would be like. I just don't think I could forgive someone for beating my mom like that. Not even if it was my dad. Of course it's much different when you actually experience it.
@Sanakedot
@Sanakedot 3 жыл бұрын
I am from an abusive household and I can explain. It's the trauma. As Hop said, they can't create bonds. The only one that people from abusive households can form, is trauma bond. As a child, you don't understand that something is wrong (unless like Hop, you had examples of healthy families; still, your view of "normal" is distorted when you are below 10 years old). I remember I was just 9 years old when my mom told me she has to divorce my father. I started crying and asked, but why? And I really, really didn't get it. Even though I grew up with him slamming the door and pushing her in the room, for us to see how he "disciplines" her. Because that's what he was calling it. My parents separated on many occasions but finally got a divorce when I was already 18. This was my "normal". So, towards us, my father was distant, and an alcoholic, he would snap at me, but not at my brother, throw things at me, etc., so I preferred him just watching TV and drinking and not giving me attention than actually talking to him. And my mother, she developed huge psychological issues throughout the years and landed them all on top of me and was using me as her therapist from when I was 9 years old onward. She was almost never a mother to me, tending to my needs, or anything. While I was angry at both of them for a while, when I grew up, I realized their relationship was toxic, they didn't get me, care for me, etc., but they still loved me as their child, in their own, traumatized way. I, myself, have many of these traits now. So, to sum it up, why would I say that I love them... Well, because a child from this sort of household cherishes the little good moments they had with their parents, and remembers them with nostalgia and warmth in their heart. Most people don't even remember all the trips they had with their family, but I do.. Because they were a very few. Our biggest accomplishment since I was around 7 years old, was when once, me, my brother, and my parents, all went to the park and had ice cream. I still remember it to this day, and we took pictures, and just for one day, we were normal. So, I can say I still love them, despite it all, because I had good moments with them. The bad moments? For a child, when they become everyday thing, they just blur, when there is something good to reminisce about.... Like, you can see Hop has a picture with his dad, and they are smiling and his dad is proud, so they had good moments. And, I do remember when Hop said, "I gotta tell my mom" when Em dropped his name in "Fall". So, this song describes the everyday toxic behavior of the family, but there were some good moments as well. I would assume his father was drinking, mine too. He was fine when he was sober, but as he is an alcoholic, every night he would get drunk and it started all over again. And I do relate with Hop here, my mother was also very bold like his mom here, and was defending herself and screaming at my father. She was not weak at all. She just wanted to believe that this is all because of the alcohol. Sorry, I did not intend to write so much, to answer a simple question. It's just such a complicated and deep topic, you know, I could talk for hours.

@@simonjohnson3424 Thank you, I am going through my healing journey but still have ways to go. I am doing my best not to follow their example, but Hop is right - it all stays in our subconscious and could surprise us at any time. I did manage to stand up to both of them in time, now my father knows not to mess with me, but is still distant. But I am a pretty distant person as well, so. My mom passed away less than 2 months ago actually, so I am really reminiscing on the good things and it's difficult to process the loss at times, but at least we were on good terms by the end and we were supporting each other in our own, distant, dysfunctional way the last 3 or 4 years. People can change and learn from their mistakes and she showed true character these past years and was a better mother to me :)

You know who else doesn't cloak anything in word play and spits it straight with the emotions...Tom MacDonald...and you don't like his music. Weird.

And yet again you were right, i kind of dislike the song and ima explain why. I have always been a fan / listener of hop. He has always been in my top tier list among guys like witt lowry, NF, Enkay, Webby and the likes ever since Lucifer effect first dropped. This song is decent in terms of the message behind it and i can get with that but if i were to analyse this song from an artistic standpoint... man im just getting a RAW type of feel from it (as in his album). Delivery, articulation, flow, scheme's (story writing in general on this one).. i dont know. its not like i hate on the guy but after being absent for so long to deal with his own personal / emotional things in life (which is understandable and he def. should do) i just think like he kinda felt off with this one. then again, perhaps he didnt put this song out for the recognition from the public but rather to tell a story that has been weighing on his mind of something.
