A year in the making, Vessel of Rebirth is the most definitive, well researched, and informative video that I have developed on the entirety of the Re:Trilogies mysteries as they have been introduced to us at this point. aligning with all that we have seen in Ever Crisis and in Rebirth. Building on top of my last video, New Reunion, this video covers the function of time, memories, in combination with the legacies of the two separate lifestream's and how they both form the 'memetic legacies'. One legacy made of humanity that guides, and the other which takes the form of Destiny. How did these two lifestream's manifest? How are they defined by the key players in Final Fantasy VII's story? And what is the ultimate meaning behind the universes that they are setting up to create?
Within this captivating exploration, the video introduces the concept of Legacy, shedding light on how it defines the creation, function, and significance of the most crucial aspects of Final Fantasy VII's universe and its intricate workings. It unravels the answers to the burning questions you have been waiting to have resolved, as well as addressing the queries that may not have even crossed your mind. All of these enigmatic elements are thoroughly explained here, emanating from the most unexpected source-Crisis Core.
Drawing from the story that defined the conclusion of Final Fantasy VII's Compilation, Crisis Core acts as the threshold, heralding the inception of two diverging paths. Within its narrative lies the quintessence of the Final Fantasy VII universe, with one path shaped by the original Final Fantasy VII, and the other path forged by the universe of Final Fantasy VII Remake. This multifaceted tale, interwoven with the grand portrayal of Humanity versus Monsters, encapsulates the very essence that Final Fantasy VII's story has striven to communicate to us, offering a profound revelation that has remained shrouded until now.
For those who have been with the channel from the beginning, I also decided to talk a bit more about one other vital thing, myself.

You all made the release of this video something so special, something I will try and put into words later. but 700 of you, for 5 hours. Sat. And watched this video with me. Working on something of this length has taken a lot of time away from spending time with all of you and talking to you, so to have so many of you be there for this really felt like the warmest welcome back imaginable. to everyone who was there for even a moment of it. Thank you. It means so much to me that you enjoy these videos, and are so passionate about this game! You truly made working on this for a year worth it just for this. And with that. Until next time... - 💤

Because he never had the right to choose. Shin Ra literally took everything from him. Even his fucking beautiful hair was a contract with a shampoo company. The story of Sephiroth is the most dramatic in the FF.😭

To be fair, he does have ambitions of his own after his mental break and discovery of the truth of Jenova. Like Jenova, Sephiroth cannot actually integrate into the Lifestream. While his ambitions are parallel to Jenova's, with clear influence, he still exists to have his own ambitions. An example of this would be the procuring and use of the Black Materia; an item not actually necessary to carry out the will of Jenova. Sephiroth chose the method, not Jenova.

This is not a mere video. It's a documentary about FFVII, both to its most minute & expansive parts. I think it will become timeless & go alongside FFVII even beyond our lives, just like lifestream does, representing Rebirth through future generations who'll fall in love with FFVII & what it represents. An endless, ever expanding cycle & universe. Both FFVII's & ours. You have my utmost respect sir.

I *really* like the idea that "the urge to save everyone" is the negative goal that the series is trying to contrast with the mindset that people like Zack/Aerith/Angeal (and Cloud in Advent Children) arrive at. There's definitely a lot of strong evidence that this is the case, and it will make for a pretty moving message for the games. It's also very clever, as it directly integrates what we, as the players, fear and desire.
@rogthepirate4593
@rogthepirate4593 5 ай бұрын
I think so too. The whole thought process of "What if we could have saved X?" is really deceptive. Well, yeah, what if? Who says that the ultimate outcome wouldn't be way worse? Because ultimately, the losses you suffer are part of what makes you who you are, and I think that is one theme that the trilogy will really go ham on. Maybe ultimately, those losses *have* to happen, because the alternative is losing a whole lot more.
@BenkaiDebussy
@BenkaiDebussy 5 ай бұрын
@@rogthepirate4593 I think the game might manage to have it both ways. Like maybe Aerith survives, and this has unforeseen consequences (which could make sense, since I think Aerith being in the life stream was necessary to stop Meteor?). This could be the hook for the third game. But they still manage to find some alternate solution (which is what the third game is for).

@@Sleepezi your's is easy content to watch. It's clear how much effort you put into each piece, the podcast style theorizing is always fun to see you in, and I saw your community post on the video strike shenanigans. Incidentally, idk if you already figured this out, but the only relatively quick way I've found to search out where the video strike is coming from is: subdivide the initial long video into multiple independent parts-in this case, like, 25-upload them as unlisted, and see what pops. Then, repeat on smaller and smaller render sections until you identify the offending content. Trim it however you like, and do the same for that content source or keywords in the rest of the video chunks. Finally, stitch it all back together and see if it uploads without flags. I hope that helps. I've considered building a user friendly tool with either the KZfaq's API, or a custom one, that does all of this, cleans up after itself, and reads out the time stamp ranges for offending content. If there isn't already something like this out in the world, someone should build it.

4:13:15 This so resonates with young Sephiroth being called a cyborg and denying that description in Ever Crisis. Also thinking about how his dream is to have a normal life but resigned to that being impossible which calls to that "Angels dream of becoming human" line of Angeal's.

@@Sleepezi You really went above and beyond for every video, so to be here every step of the way feels like living in those "what a time to be alive" and "you had to be there" moments. I think the biggest takeaway is everyone has been watching the tip of the iceberg and speculating on that, while you've revealed the entire interconnected scale and scope that most of the community, even the die-hard lore-enthusiasts, have not remotely considered. It really speaks to your talent, dedication and brilliance at the same time. It almost feels like the developers made the game for someone like you to come along and break the code. The idea of a reflection is very much Jenova's role, something that emulates, but is not. Its a good way of summarizing that role of his though! Thank you for sharing and thanks for watching! :)

Like I love my lion mane man, and his bombastic intro, but if you dive deeper, mans is unhinged, he is actually crazy and people avoid him because of it. It’s easy to see his behavior as self destructive as well as destructive to his surroundings. I hope Roche gets a redemption arc in Rebirth, like if he gets his head fixed maybe he could be a valuable ally

Loved the video. Just one tip…state your thesis at the beginning of the video. There is a lot of well researched information, but you don’t pull it all together until someone is hours into the video. If you’re just going for a recap of the games, then it works great, but if you’re theory crafting, you need to get that stinger earlier.

I think you are absolutely right. I do think that what I did with the opening still achieves the engagement that I was looking for, at least to the audience this video was mainly targeting. I think the opening does keep most people engaged and intrigued to get to that inevitable reveal an hour in. BUT regardless of those positives, and the feedback that I have been seeing in the comments or my own view of it, this kind of addition to the beginning would not have hurt to add in anyway shape or form. and only be a benefit to those who were not as engaged, or may have seen some of the information that I was recapping as 'redundant'. its also just a good idea just for basic structure. I do appreciate you bringing this to my attention, I do have some additional thoughts I would like to write about here since they came up while reading your comment that I think would be important to note: a lot of the time things that people say both here in the youtube comments, or in other discussions elsewhere, are things that I have already been quite aware of. Some things I had time to add / correct, some things I did not. But regardless of whether or not people saw this video as good or bad, each project is always a platform for improvement. and more directly every video I have ever made has parts that I consider to be failures. it is when people point out or notice it that confirms these feelings, good or bad. This is definitely one of those things! The point of me saying this, is that I Appreciate you taking the time to let me know what you felt was needed in a respectful way. (that is very appreciated) it helps me confirm some of my own self assessment of the video. I will continue to try and improve, thank you for watching :)

I chunked this into separate sections, watching each of them every time I have free time. You had me on the edge of my seat everytime! ❤ I kinda want Sephiroth to succeed not because I want Cloud to become a monster but for him to at least have a chance at rebirth, therefore a chance to save himself - maybe Cloud, Aerith, Zack and the others will help him see it. With Sephiroth freed from Jenova's control, unlimited possibilities appear.

I always loved Crisis Core and always thought people didn't really delve deep enough to understand it, even those who major in FFVII lore (self-proclaimed anyway). I'm actually glad you made this so more people can understand. Maybe it was my autistic self that allowed me to understand how you get characters like Angeal or Genesis who are so focused on their thing that it literally is their personality and way of life. It always seemed to me that this is what people got hung up on and didn't go deeper into the story.

The irony is that "SOLDIER Honor" doesn't really exist; it's a coping mechanism/pretty lie that keeps SOLDIERs from questioning their actions, their role as Shinra's army of monsters. Zack kills a bunch of Wutaian infantry at the beginning if CC without so much as a flinch. He's swallowed Shinra's propaganda and thinks he's a hero bringing mako energy to Wutai and fighting their backwards government. Zack's character arc peels back the naivety and lies as he learns the horrific truth of Shinra but still copes by clinging to "SOLDIER honor" a thing that doesn't exist but Zack tries to be. His Final Stand where he finally fights back against Shinra isn't SOLDIER honor, per say. SOLDIERs are loyal to Shinra, Zack bit the hand that fed him of his own will and was killed for. He wasn't a SOLDIER at the end, but a true hero. Hero vs Monster isn't just a criticism of SOLDIER. It, like SOLDIER itself, is part of a larger criticism of the military industrial conplex. How the military strips recruits of their humanity and empathy for others. Recruits are trained to be killing machines and view other humans as monsters in turn. Like Zack, the way you regain your humanity is to maintain perspective, stick to your values even when the system tells you otherwise, and ultimately push back against it.

I legitimately love Crisis Core over the OG FF7, I've played both numerous times, but CC's storyline is ingrained into my brain. It's really disheartening you had to explain so much of CC for your audience, because so much of what you explained is what I got from the story (not everything, of course, you've fleshed this out beyond anyone ever could imagine) already. I wish more people enjoyed Zack's story, but I'm glad you captured it so passionately, authentically, and beautifully.

A good chunk of the fanbase hold Zack super high, and CC by extension. It's just that a non-negligible group also can't stand the way the game is delivered and how bad the original gameplay was. Reunion got a lot of people back on board, but you gotta understand. For older fans, they have families and jobs now. They may not know or have the time to discover how fun Reunion is. All in all, this video is bridging the gap, and that's not disheartening to me. This is a show of faith that no matter who you are or what game you prefer in the compilation, you have a place here, in the bigger picture of the FF7 fanbase.

First of all: Thank you. I genuinely wanted to bring as many people to Crisis Core to look at it not as a tacked on part of FF7, but to really look at it with the same level of intent of any other story (mainly the OG) that they may love and care about. Second: I don't think you should be disheartened, :) its important to know that we all have those bias's with media in some shape or form, or a strong opinion. and we are talking about a game that is a prequel to one of the greatest games of all time in peoples minds. But none of that makes it any less important to the people who do genuinely like Crisis Core. The point of this video was to recognize that people have a hard time looking past a lot when it comes to Crisis Core, give people a chance to get into it to the best of my ability, and let them make the judgement for themselves afterward. and if they do, then awesome! but if not, you me and the rest of the Crisis Core fans will still continue to enjoy it for what it says and what it says to us. Nothing changes ultimately. Also, as much as people may have not liked it before, I think Reunion ultimately made a positive impact on the way the game is viewed, and I think more people are warming up to it than ever before. Hopefully my video can do its part for that as well! I am really glad though that you felt like I did it justice, I really truly was trying to nothing but. Thank you for watching, and thank you for your passion for Crisis Core.

That last part felt like I was a balloon slowly being inflated throughout the video before exploding at the very ending. I really need to digest all this ...The idea that perhaps Sephiroth actually does NEED to win this time paints a very bleak and somber image of the fate of our beloved characters, particularly Cloud. It's as if Sephiroth is setting the stage to ensure that there will be no one else left in the world for Cloud to turn to, except him. Cloud will be on his knees, begging for Sephiroth's hand. Just when I didn't think FF7 could get any darker. TAKE NOTES, SQUARE.

Unrelated to what's in the video but something I found interesting. Roche, though a second class soldier, wears a biker's jacket and is the only depicted soldier to wear one. I found this interesting, because in the kids are alright, a Mr. Ard who is looking for his son, gives a photo of a man in Nibelheim (post fire rebuild) of his son in a soldier uniform. The person who gave Mr. Ard this photo is described as a soldier 2nd class wearing a biker's jacket who could not speak or stay coherent due to how close to death he was due to Geostigma. I doubt this was a coincidence. I also expect to find Ard's son in Nibelheim.

I feel like you got a lot of things that others have been missing in their analyses and theories of the Remake trilogy, especially regarding Sephiroth. Remake's blown everything into a much wider scale, and Sephiroth's goals have expanded with it.

I listened to this on a long drive for work today, and there was just a lot of nodding and agreeing. It's nice to hear someone who gets the entire Compilation in the same way I do. I played Final Fantasy 7 a year or so before Advent Children came out. I've always been very accepting and understanding of the Compilation, while being mostly unable to discuss the game with any fans because they just fall in to the same tired opinions of "Nomura ruined the series" or "The Compilation is bad, mmk." Wholly agree with where you think Rebirth is heading; I feel the conclusion, whatever it will be titled, will be about saving Cloud from Sephiroth's ideology, and to finally defeat Sephiroth once and for all when he's at his most powerful.

I was thinking. Sephiroth could have killed both Cloud and everyone else long ago. But he needs him. Through Cloud, he fights for his humanity and identity. In the game even crisis, we were shown the true desires of young Sephiroth: to live an ordinary life. The capture of the planet and galactic travels are the desire of Genova, not his. He is in a strange connection with her and can control her, but remains her puppet ... And my theory is that the hero from Loveless is exactly Sephiroth, who found his identity and humanity and destroyed Jenova once and for all.

What an absolute masterclass of a video. You were able to put into words my own thoughts and feelings on crisis core so much more eloquently than I could ever articulate. I feel so seen

I am glad that you feel so strongly that the video was able to articulate that Street. I really wanted to do Crisis Core justice! Thank you for the comment, thank you for your kind words, and thanks for watching.

What's amusing is that I got into FF7 because of the buster sword. My brother spotted the original FF7 cover, decided to give it a shot, and I was curious why he switched from fighting games like Tekken. He simply said, "The sword on the cover looked cool." And just like that, I was hooked too.

It's been 84 years! Haha Jokes aside, this is better than christmas and my birthday combined. Can't wait what masterpiece of theorycrafting and visioning you made, Sleepezi! Whoop whoop

Literally feels like the length of time it took to make. I feel every day of that year. 😅 I really did put a lot of myself into it, so I am very much looking forward to seeing what you all think of it, not just as a FF7R video, but as a video in general! Really appreciate the level of excitement here, and really hope you enjoy it when it releases! 🙏

Nerdy side musing, but your analysis of Genesis representing the midway point between Angeal and Sephiroth, humanity and monsters, light and dark, makes me wonder if his red color scheme is an intentional allusion to Red Mages in the broader FF canon, seeing as they typically also represent a midway point between the supposed opposites of white and black magic.

This video was full of so much effort, it feels educational in subjects beyond explaining the game. Actually made my week a bit better
