Vestfjordseilas med Hæringen - Regatta with traditional boats to Lofoten

Tur med åttringen Hæringen til Skotpeisingen og Vestfjordseilasen 4:19 Båten eies av kystlaget Salta. Vi gikk for motor fra Bodø til Nordskot. Dagen etter deltok vi på Skotpeisingen, en regatta for tradisjonsbåter. Så var det seilas over Vestfjorden til Kabelvåg. 2 timer roing og nesten 5 timer med seiling.
We sailed "Hæringen" a 31 ft. åttring nordlandsboat. Hæringen is 100 years, and owned by the costal federation. The first day we used motor to get to Nordskot in Steigen where the races start. The second day was "Skotpeisingen" a relaxed regatta with traditional boats. The day after we sailed Westfjordseilasen, with traditional and modern boats. 2 hours rowing before the wind gave us an epic sail over to Lofoten

There is a well for an outboard motor on this one. Smaller boats use a bracket and mount it on the outside, and larger Nordlandsboats use an inboard. But they are best sailing ofcourse!

My ancestors from Lofoten and Vesterallen would have loved to have had a well motor on their Nordlansbot. Greetings from Minnesota... :)

Tupperware🤣 I know the saying in the Netherlands: in the past when the ships were made of wood and the men were hard like steel,,,,, nowerdays the ships are from steel and the men of wood....
