▼STORY
In C.E.75, the fighting still continues. There are independence movements, and aggression by Blue Cosmos... In order to calm the situation, a global peace monitoring agency called COMPASS is established, with Lacus as its first president. As members of COMPASS, Kira and his comrades intervene into various regional battles. Then a newly established nation called Foundation proposes a joint operation against a Blue Cosmos stronghold.

Here in Japan everyone just about already forgot about G-Witch now that Seed is back in the scene, its Blu-Ray sales had been pretty lukewarm compared to other Gundam franchises, and hobby stores are having trouble getting rid of their mountains of unsold G-Witch kits. On the other hand, they could dedicate most of the store's shelves for Seed kits, and those shelves would be empty the next day.

@@leo11limI heard he's honoring Nicol by incorporating some weapons from Blitz through the remodeling of Duel Gundam. Buster Gundam got remodeled somehow, but it didn't incorporate any Blitz Gundam parts. Same goes with Shinn, the color scheme on Destiny Spec II reminds me of Legend Gundam, the one that Rey piloted. Spoilers for the movie: According to the 2nd volume of Gundam SEED Freedom novel, Nicol's father, Yuri Amalfi was involved with the remodeling of Duel Blitz and Lightning Buster, it clearly hinted that he made Duel Blitz in honor to Nicol. It also doubles as entrusting Duel Blitz to Yzak, despite that Yzak gave Nicol a hard time early in ZAFT. From what I heard, Yzak's mother is now a part of Clyne faction.

My favorite opening theme from the SEED series. 0:01 Kira Freedom and Athrun Justice are so cool. 1:45 Three protagonists. Kira Freedom , Athrun Justice and shinn destiny. My favorite couple's. 1:19 Shin x Lunamaria. 1:15 Kira x Lacus. 0:40 Athrun x Cagalli.

While I understand why it was replaced, I feel like Wings of Words as a song gets a bad rap. It absolutely should not have been the opening to an action show, especially for its final arc, but by itself it's a good song.

This was not the opening theme when it was originally aired. It was Wings of Words by Chemistry which is a good song too and one of the bests. I don't know why they changed it for HD release.

I used to be confused about who the main character was but when I rewatched it as an adult, Gundam Seed Destiny has a storyline that is truly true to reality. In the world of politics and war, there is no main character who is able to solve problems alone. In the past, the ending of the story when Kira Yamato shot Gilbert Durandal felt strange because the main characters were Athrun and Shin Asuka, but now Kira who resolves the conflict by planning to shoot Gilbert Durandal feels like a reasonable choice

As good of a song as Wings of Words is, the moment Vestige became an OP for Final Plus....yeah, there was no contest in which was the better final OP. Wings of Words had 0 energy for a final OP of an action show. So, it was fitting that this became the HD Remaster's final OP. I only hate that it meant this couldn't still be an insert song for Strike Freedom's debut then big rescue moments, though the latter went with an equally good substitute...the only substittue

Probably to fit the tone. Invoke and Ignited were high energy openings, while Moment, Believe, Pride and Bokutachino Yukue had the darker and dramatic tone for the middle part, and Realize was the final opening for hopeful finale with dark undertone. Wings of Words being an R&B song gave me whiplash on first time after all previous openings ngl.

When I first saw this for Final Plus years ago, I was glad we weren't going to end with Wings of Words in the list of OPs. It's a great song, very feel good song...but very poor choice for the final opening for an action series. There's no tension or energy from it. Even the most un-action-y final OPs, like Zeta's, still had some energy that Wings of Words honestly lacked. IDC if it's Shinn's song and Vestige is Kira's, former didn't sound like a good final OP. So, honestly, replacing it with this for the HD Remaster was a no-brainer.

@@1607Adi_Manz nah, she was the showrunner. Everything hanged on her because she's the scriptwriter. Fukuda has no say because he's her husband. Let me reiterate, SEED Freedom was under production for 20 years. It only became underway AFTER she died. That just tells you that she had a HUGE role to play on why the CE series became bad and stale.

@@gundam5281 there was never an official statement because 1) Japan and 2) culture. But there have been whistleblowers' accounts. For one, it all started when she got sick at the end of SEED. While that was fair, she abused the sympathy that the production crew gave her because she got better by the time for SEED Destiny. She blew a lot of the show's budget having "private concerts" under the guise of "looking for soundtrack for the show" but she's a big idol fanatic. She didn't work but since she's the scriptwriter, everyone's work depended on her. So people complained and she was petty about it. She used her illness again but everyone knew she was better so she threw Cagali's VA and her husband under the bus (hard to tell if this is true or not because Shinn's VA disputed it). This is why Cagali did a 180 as a character being reduced to a bubbling mess and Shinn was reduced to a screaming idiot and replaced by Athrun as the MC. The lack of budget and lack of time do animate forced the production team to make templates out of SEED and even reused the plot because Morosawa did not work. She basically stopped SEED Freedom's and 2 other movies' production while she lived. NOTE: SEED Freedom was greenlit since 2005. She died 2016. There is no reason why SEED Freedom was under production freeze for 10 years.
