"Vestri" Launching for Summer 2024 - 34' CHB Tri-Cabin Trawler Type Boat

Video footage of our 34' CHB trawler boat, "Vestri" being launched. First, it takes a ride to the shoreline in a boat mover machine, then is transferred to a sling to be dropped into the water. All went well, and we are back cruising!

Yes, nice group of people run and staff it and one of the few boatyards that allow DIY work on your own boat.

We are currently anchored in Gorge Harbor, Cortez Island, for a bit, and then the plan is to stock up in Campbell River and head northward towards the Broughton Archipelago area for July if the weather cooperates. But, no schedules. :)

I have been meaning to ask you I might have missed it. But does your boat have a Twin Disc or Borg-Warner transmission?

" That boat " I think looks like it was wood planked, maybe was sunk for some reason , did you get the story? Do you think 34 feet is just the right size for the cruising you guys do? Could you go smaller or bigger?

It was a boat that recently sank in Squirrel Cove, Cortes Island. I think it was basically abandoned or neglected and broke away from the dock over there and ended up grounded. We like the size, wouldn't want smaller as an extended liveaboard. 36 would be nicer as often times the master state room is better with a walk around queen bed but they usually come with 2 engines and its nice and simple to have just the one, not to mention much more economical to operate.

@@LoveYourRV Thanks for the sunk boat story. You make some good points about boat size. I guess two-footitis is a thing, funny how just two more feet in a boat makes such a large difference.
