Hello everyone!
In this video I will be doing flying in sim battles for you guys in war thunder. I will be utilizing my relatively new HOTAS and TRACK IR 5 to give me an edge in these dog fights.
The plane I am flying is the MIG-23ML in the Soviet tech tree. It's a solid plane it just gets a tad screwed over due to the BR compression and is forced into matchups it should not be matched in.
Sorry towards the end of the video I had to cut out over an hour of just me flying and dying it was very tedious and boring and decided to focus more on an actual fight. Please let me know what you guys think and what you'd like to see in the future.

Nice flying mate. I don't know how much experience you have in top tier jets but one a few quick tips: this game doesn't have any type of missile alert (yet) just the RWR. So when you're being locked they haven't necessarily launched a missile at you yet. Of course if you're being locked for long enough there's probably a fox 1 headed your way. You have to judge that on the situation. If you suspect there's a fox 1 heading your way and you can't notch, just hit the deck. If you fly close enough to the ground, fox 1 hits the dirt instead of you 100% of the time. If flying glued to the ground and still got hit it definitely wasn't a fox 1 but a fox 2. It's important to know this because when trying to do too much evasive maneuvers you bleed all your speed and the hostile easily catches you to fox 2 range. When I'm playng with my mig 23 I rarely fly high like you because it's very hard to counter f16's and f14's at high altitude without a matching radar a proper BVR missiles. You are flying a very good bird but can't play their game. One last thing, did you tried the square radar scope yet? Idk about you but i think it's much better than the cone one to see things.

Thank you, I'm very new to jets in this. About a week or so, so thank you for that information. It's kinda funny thinking about that now because the enemy just has to be wondering what I am doing. I'll try some more low altitude game play! Thanks for the tips man hope you come back for more!

boots on the ground. I unfortunately discovered a passion for aviation via flight sim after my time in the military has ended.

why is my mig 23ml radar can only reach 30 km ? even after changing the radar scope scale, doesnt change anything

just checked in game for you. You have to be 9-10 km above the surface of the map to be able to alter your search range. Now note it is above the surface so some maps start you at an altitude of 7km or more while you are taking off from the surface. So in that scenario to be safe you should fly at least to 17 km before you can alternate ranges.
