Veterans Stadium might have been a dump, but it was one of the greatest things that has ever happened for the Eagles. In terms of the fan atmosphere, it was better than the Linc.

Lots of great memories here - not only from a team perspective, but also from a family perspective - for those who attended games with family and friend before the implosion. RIP Veterans Stadium.

Hard to believe if the veterans stadium was standing today, it would be 50 years old! Watching this video of the implosion is bringing memories to me! I have seen two games there, one of each sport, football, eagles & baseball Phillies!

A year from now RFK Stadium (Which has stood the test of time) will finally join the Vet, Three Rivers, River Front, Metro Dome, Candle Stick, Foxborough, Giants Stadium, Memorial Stadium, etc (NTM RFK opened well before all of the stadiums I mentioned with the exception of Memorial plus Candle Stick)

I remember they shut down 95 that day for the implosion. Me and my uncle and a few thousand of our closest friends piled onto the highway to watch our monstrosity come down

I witnessed some exciting and great things at the Vet but I can't honestly say I was heartbroken when it came toppling down as the place was a dump in it's final years. The Spectrum was another story...loved the place.

I was in the 700 level for many Eagles games…you came out with bruises and hugs and Phillies Dutch Daulton hit a ball just beyond my reach lol…not to mention U2 and Primus with the Yugo’s for lighting

Is there anybody reading these comments because I’ve came to this place as a 5 year old up until I was then a teenager because I remember watching The Phillies play there over the years and I remember The Army / Navy Football games played there too & I really hate to see it go since we have much bigger arenas in the spot where this stadium once stood .

I bet Gruden and the Bucs at the time felt great when this happened.

As bad as it was, I miss it. Went to one of the last games there, and one of the first games are Citizens. The vet just had a classic feel to it.

The courtroom also goes into a heap of dust. Yes, don't forget the courtroom they had especially in that stadium.

My 1st & ONLY time I was there was back in 1994, I was 13 then. With my dad & my cousins & uncles. Phillies vs Astros. I think my dad won some tickets from a Phillies trivia off a radio show. The phanatic rode right behind us on his 4-wheeler in the 7th inning stretch. Right when the game was over, as we walked out to the cars, someone gave my uncle like 20 FREE t-shirts & like 10 free hats!!!! NO LIE!!!!😳😲 we thought they were stolen. Lol idk how?🤔🤷🏻‍♂️ but we took advantage of it, took the shirts & hats & left & went home. 🙂🙂 I'll NEVER forget about that day. -THATS MY VET STORY!!!⚾️🏟

I often wonder how many people were there for the implosion who were there hen the vet was officially dedicated before the first game. To them it must have seemed like only the week before the implosion was when the dedication and first Phillies game took place. It must have been especially a sad occasion for them.

Bryce Harper was 11 when this happened now he's a Phillie for the rest of his life!

And they have demolished a beautiful stadium like Veteran's for replace it whit that horrible Lincoln Field!??? that's crazy! It's this progress?? I don't understand.

was nice to see PHI Eagles have a good run in the early 2000s and won a Playoff game at the VET in 2000, 2001, and 2002 seasons..🟩🏈🏟The Eagles bashed the Bucs in the Playoffs in 2000 and 2001..2002 NFC Championship game was a different story..Bucs erased the Eagles..

That Eagles won a championship at the Vet's predecessor Franklin Field, and one so far at the Linc its successor. Yet not one in the Vet, seems like that place was cursed. At least for the Eagles. The Phillies won a world series there in 1980 that's about it.

Thank God, they didn't give Luzinski the plunger to hold as he would have dropped it like that last out fly ball in the 1977 Playoffs with The Dodgers. The Phil's lost the game and Playoff Series.

People complain about the Trop in Tampa Bay and Olympic Stadium in Montreal. Veterans Stadium was right up there as a dump, like most multi-use stadiums built in the 1970's.
