My neighbor is 86 and not able to afford to keep on top of his senior dogs allergies. It was clear to me that she (dog) had developed a yeast infection. I made this spray for my neighbor to use since it is something he can handle. He has already mentioned it to several other people his age who can't afford to keep their dogs on apoquel year round. He claims he saw immediate relief for his old pup and I have been asked to make copies of the recipe for his friends. I have included your tip about the selsum blue for each of them as well as suggesting they consider switching to limited ingredient foods to see if that eases itch symptoms. This has the potential to give relief to several older pups and I am grateful for this channel and your willingness to share valuable information.

My vet recommended Apoquel for my dachshund. Within a couple of weeks she had an abscess between her toes. (Vet`s bill 1) than developed an abscess underneath because of a tiny scratch. This had to be drained. (Vet`s bill 2) I stopped using it because it blocks a dog`s natural defences to infection. I use apple cider vinegar and sea buckthorn spray on her skin. Oh and your advice re; yeast infection in dog`s ears? Canesten cured my dachshund.This was after numerous drops, antibiotics and steroids that failed to cure it.Thank you so much!

I share with joy your videos so all my dogwalking friends can treat their pets at home if they so wish. It's rediculous the prices charged at Vets, so many of us on limited incomes cannot now afford to visit the vets, and in some cases pay for stuff that doesn't work, plus the 'consultation'!!!!!! I am so grateful for this vet, actually sharing helpful info with his audience for absolutely nothing other than KZfaq views. I’m sure he doesn’t get a ton of $ from KZfaq ad revenue or anything, just exposure. But being able to reach literally thousands of pet parents to actually help their fur babies, rather than gatekeep all this info for profit, is truly a blessing. Thank you! There’s a groomer on the channel “Go Groomer” that shared all her best tips and info without any sponsorship or affiliate links to her recommended products. I am in love with both of their channels now!

Yes, here in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, I went to vets and they gave me Apoquel. However, no insert. Went back a week later, and asked for the leaflet! I was infuriated. Internal liver damage, kidneys etc. Nothing natural, even though I had said about Condes crystals etc. No help. Took my dog off Apoquel, and would rather bathe her, or let her itch. But now I found this! Thank you. I'm also going to try diatomaceous earth, and Neem oil. ❤️✔️

Interestingly enough there is a company that sells a flea treatment for their food that is made of ...ACV and garlic. There is likely more ingredients, but these are the ones I remember. I started to use it in my dogs food and, surprisingly they really liked it. They got to the point where they looked at me when their food didn't have it. It seems that they didn't want to eat it when I first put it on, but after it sat for a bit they would eat it right up. They never had a yeast problem while I was using the concoction, but a year or two later, they developed a yeast infection after I had stopped using it ( I found a safe tick and flea killer for my yard). I used ACV for a topical spray, but they would lick it, which was counter-productive. Then I found a wash called Fungi Cure and man does it work. It foams like a shampoo and requires it stays on for only a minute or so before rinsing. Then they get an athletes foot treatment on the days between baths (2x/week). One of my dogs killed a rabbit that dared enter the yard and although I noticed a bare patch on the rabbit, I didn't look at it closely. Turns out it was ringworm, which my dog contracted. This stuff even killed that. This worked great and was substantially (as in massively) cheaper than the $300 meds my (no longer) vet wanted to sell me (along with mandatory baths every other day). God only knows what she would have recommended for the ringworm. As for alternatives...she was dead-set against any of it, as she had no faith in alternatives. When I asked about using garlic, she said that would be fine if I wanted to kill my dogs. I had already read the study she referred to, but I also realized the amount they used (to accomplish making it toxic) would be like a human eating pounds of it. That would likely kill a human as well. Kudos to you, doc, for making these effective, cheap and non-synthetic treatments known to the general public. Dispelling pharma propaganda and outright lies is a great service to the public. Thanks!

Garlic is safe for dogs. Back in the day some smart guys ran test on dogs giving them an absolute insane amount of garlic witch killed the dogs so it’s been widely believed that it’s toxic but to much of almost anything is toxic to all creatures. I recently used Simply Dawn for my dogs bath with some vinegar in the bath water. After rinsing, I applied coconut oil (antifungal, antimicrobial properties) which had been dissolved in warm water. I let it soak into her skin a bit before doing a quick final rinse, patted dry with a towel, and blow dry the fur to avoid creating an environment favorable to yeast overgrowth. Coconut oil can also be given orally & my dog loves it. Seems to have made a big difference. Thanks for the topical vinegar spray recipe. That's going to be added now, too.

@TheApeMachine
@TheApeMachine Жыл бұрын
@@ilianam9518 Hi, I had him on celery, cauliflower, broccoli, and either beef, chicken, and later both beef and chicken :) However, I would really recommend adding at least some supplements, because while the base is fine as I just described it, in the long term it is not a full-spectrum dog food, so long-term the dog needs to have added what isn't there. I would research this well before jumping into it, my experience is that it also changes the stomach tolerance of the dog and he will not be able to go back to regular (cheap) pet food. We now have him on Natsbi brand food, which our vet sells, and this is working very well too. Not that homemade cooking was not good, but we moved countries and here our dog did not agree with some of the ingredients.

🐕 For the apple cider vinegar, I mix it in their food. If you put it in their water, it will make it taste bad, and they may become dehydrated from not wanting to drink it. Also, apple cider vinegar stings on open wounds. It is a great skin conditioner as a 50/50 mix with water, but if they have a bad rash, it's better to use Bannix (which is an inexpensive over the counter) so it doesn't sting your dog.

My routine: Generic brand Selson Blue applied to the affected areas before a 10-20 minute walk so they can’t lick the medicated shampoo. Rinse them off and towel dry. Make sure to wash their collar if the neck or ears has the skin infection as well. I washed my dog every two-three days until she stopped licking at the skin and stopped with the treatment after all of the skin returned to the normal pink color and all wounds healed. The green tea/acv mixture works great and cuts the healing time in half.

That's interesting. My dog had black colored skin all over her tummy. Which my vet immediately said was yeast. After 3 weeks of ketaconazole the stomach completely changed from black to a healthy, pink color. Problem is the yeast has now relocated from her tummy to her tail. So now she's not licking her tummy but is eating her tail off. I just ordered caprlyic acid, oil of oregano and probiotics. And I do notice vinegar of any type with some peroxide seems to reduce the itching for an hour or 2. I can't afford more trips to the vet so something natural has to work! This has been going on over 6 months now it's a nightmare.

@@robertcece6972 - Hi - my little Japanese Chin cross has a number of allergy related problems. She is on a daily dose of antihistamine and (for the “vaginitis”) cranberry extract. We have done the whole steroid thing and repeated treatment with Mometamax drops for her ear “infections”. I started by following the vet’s directions to give her Reactine - a whole pill, just like you would take as a human! He said it would be okay, so I tried it. It did have a very noticeable affect on her allergy symptoms, but I was concerned about their affect on her internal organs. I was speaking with a Naturopath and she suggested a homeopathic remedy - Rhinallergy , made by the Boiron company, costs approximately the same as the house-brand version of Reactine, and has controlled her symptoms WAY better than the Reactine!!! She no longer has itchy spots, her eyes don’t have any mung in them (they used to be quite goopy requiring me to wipe them frequently, and her ears are much better (but she gets an ear wash with a bit of hydrocortisone in it 2-3 times a week). As for her vaginitis - I was giving her a regular cranberry gel-cap per day. The only thing with gel-caps is, as soon as they touch that moist little tongue, *they stick*! I had to pretty much stuff them waaaaay back on her tongue, almost down her throat, to get them into her. Because I didn’t want to maybe scratch her mouth/throat with my fingernail, I began searching for some other form of tablet or maybe a liquid. To no avail! Then, one day I was in Wal-Mart and turned around after picking out another item, and there, right behind me, was a wall of vitamins/supplements. So, I figured I’ll give it another go. Lo and Behold - there it was - Cranberry GUMMIES!!! What a true answer to prayer! They aren’t cheap, but they aren’t really expensive, either. She is not a fan of the flavour (I think it tastes like some fruit or berry), but she will let me put it in the middle of her tongue and she swallows it (if I gently hold her jaw shut till it’s down). Before I give it to her, I kind of “pre-chew” it by biting it with my front teeth, in a kind of grid pattern, but not all the way through. That way, it kind of flattens it out (it’s sort of like a mini jujube). Now, her “vaginitis” is all gone and we are happy about that. The brand of gummie is “Nature’s Bounty”, there are 60 pills in the bottle which are 100mg in strength. My vet explained the purpose of the cranberry treatment. It ups the acid level in her urine, so that when she goes pee, it washes the vulva area and gets rid of the yeast “infection” (which is an external symptom of an allergic reaction). Because female dogs sit with their “lady-bits” touching the ground, if there is something there to which they are allergic, it’s liable to cause a reaction. Anyway, all that being said - she does have something going on with her feet just now, so I’m going to try that ACV concoction. It sounds like a good thing. I hope my long-winded tale didn’t put you to sleep, lol. I truly hope it will be of some help. Best of luck. PS - I just re-read your comment and it reminded me of Colloidal Silver. It is a natural antibiotic made from silver and comes in a spray bottle at health-food stores and a lot of pet stores also carry it. It can work wonders on wounds and infections/irritations, and it won’t matter if your dog ingests it as it isn’t toxic and can also be given orally for treatment of infections and such. You might want to research it. It just looks like water. It doesn’t sting. It has no taste. So, it is very easy to administer. 👍🙏🏼✌️ 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦

I used this on my dog's paws. I soaked a small towel and really cleaned the paws. Sometimes 3 times a day, but he stopped biting his feet.

Are you talking about the shampoo or the spray? My dog has yeasty ears and bites his feet.

@@dalehallett8449 since my reply to the video was 6 months ago, I was using the spray. This was only a temporary fix. Yeast is a problem within the gut. Leaky Gut in dogs and their intolerances needs to be addressed. Yeast does not vanish with products used on the outside. Dr. Jones gives fabulous advice as you work on the health internally to get rid of yeast.

I'm going to try the spay on a cotton pad and wipe my cat down. No baths or garlic...cats can't take garlic....vet prescribed med she won't take. Money wasted.
