Pennsylvania has a cool coat of arms (one of my favorites out of the states), but it really does make for a bad flag.

My home state, Minnesota has a bad flag. But let’s be honest, we barely look up because it’s to snowy.

There's so much Latin because the US is designed after the Roman Republic so they all had massive hardons for anything Latin and to some extent we still do. It's a good thing, we need more of it. Also we should start building in classical architecture style again

Surprise the state of Washington wasn't in your top 10 let alone the top 5. Yeah, the flag is green not blue, but it just has a seal of George Washington in it. I mean, I know the state of Washington is named after the first US President, but out of all the landmarks it can choose for the state such as The Space Needle, any of the mountains and Cascades, Puget Sound, they just chose to put a seal of George Washington and leave it at that. I get the name of the state was uninspired, but the flag is more uninspired and in some ways confusing as someone who might have never been to the US might get the State of Washington's flag confused with the District of Columbia's flag due the state seal even though the flag of DC looks completely different and much better on the eyes.

Here in Mexico is the same, the most part of the states flags is a white background with the shield of the state, exept for one, the state of Jalisco have a flag with 3 different color background (red, blue and yellow) and the of the shield state (again)

I'm from N.Y and I wholeheartedly agree that my state needs a flag redesign. I heard Massachusettes is getting a new flag (although for offensive reasonings) I hope NY soon follows. I firmly believe that more than half of the U.S state flags need to be redesigned. I can only list about maybe 10-12 of them that actually look decent, including Mississippi's & Utah's new one, which won't be in "effect" until next year (March 2024) The less busy they look, the better.

Apparently the reason why North Dakota's flag is like that is that they had troops in the Spanish-American War and those troops used a flag just like that. I didn't actually read it as, " FREEDOM VERMONT AND UNITY" since "VERMONT" is in the front of the banner and is a little higher than "FREEDOM AND UNITY". I think you can see that the motto is behind "VERMONT"

Vermont has a non-official flag that has a green canton on which there are stars not in a regular shape. That is a great flag. IIRC Vermont National Guard uses it when they are aboard.

As a Virginian, I am proud to have the only flag with nudity on it.

I don't know, out of the typical "coat of arms + field of blue" flags, I think NH is one of the better ones. Can it be improved? Of course, but it is not as necessary as others, even with the same "coat of arms + field of blue"

North Dakota is only proud of the fact that they helped split Dakota Territory in half because they didn't like having the territorial capital located in the southern half. Lame? Yes.

I hate my state's, Florida, flag. It looks horrific and the red saltire is either an homage to the fact that Florida was a Spanish colony (Alabama also has a red saltire, making having a red saltire unoriginal) or that they were a part of the Confederacy (yikes). Florida needs a newer, much better flag. Anything would do as long as it isn't like everyone else's and isn't even worse than before. I've seen some good ones on r/vexillology that absolutely would make Florida's one of the most distinct in the nation.

In my opinion, Kentucky's flag is one of the worst, because like you said, it's one of the boring blue seal flags with the name of the state on it, but the font just makes it a thousand times worse. It makes me feel bad for Kentuckians.

My state of Missouri just barely avoids this list by putting the state seal on top of a tricolor to represent its history in the Louisiana Territory before the French sold it to America.

One time at my school (This was November 2019.) the school decided to hang up the State flag of Florida (Because they hadn't hung up one yet.) and they hung it upside-down. They hung the Flag of Florida upside-down. (Any other state flag w/ the state seal I'd understand but the Florida Flag?) Oh yeah did I forget to mention It was next to the Car-Riders pickup and I was the only person who noticed the flag was upside-down?

I got love for Idaho cause I lived there for 4.5 years but it certainly needs a new flag. Also I agree N. Dakota should have a new flag and it should incorporate some Native American symbols or maybe a buffalo.
