prob no space for autoloader
@skparadise3382
@skparadise3382 9 ай бұрын
Because an autoloader is used to make the tank a smaller target. Which was important during the cold war when lock on ATGMs and thermal optics weren't really a thing. A secondary purpose is to remove a crew member so if the tank is destroyed you only lose 3 men as opposed to 4. The artillery guns don't need to be small. So there's no need for an autoloader. And there's already like 8 people working on them, reducing that down to 7 is kinda pointless. And they're less likely to be destroyed in the first place. But they do have a partial autoloader, which is where the crew place the shell into the breech and charge and the vehicle loads it itself. Most artillery systems have this kind of system.
@_thisnameistaken
@_thisnameistaken 9 ай бұрын
Autoloaders make a tank smaller and it takes away the human aspect of loading, because human loaders are one more person you have to send to battle, and they can get tired of loading heavy rounds all day.

Oh, look, the Gunnar, handles the round. He puts it in the machine and machine loads it in the gun. And then in the standard u s the gunner loads the round into the barrel and they shoot it. Number around per minute might be different. But i'm pretty sure if you write that down into a flow chart , you're going to want to remove some of those moves. If you're going to make it automatic make it automatic. But if you're gunners , doing the same motions as if that automation wasn't there , you just adding time a higher Likelihood of murphy's law getting in the way

A reminder that this has about half to about 2/3s the range of similar NATO systems like the Paladin, PzH 2000, ARCHER, or CAESAR, while also being less mobile.

Well it shells are strictly propelled by the charge, no rocket assisted. It also has inferior accuracy compared to its western counterparts. There are a couple prototypes and modernized models with better fire control system and shells that can reach out 30-40km. but they're mass produced in small numbers. But russians have an artillery design for every specific range , like 2s1 and 2s3s for short range, Msta1s for med and the S27s for long range.
