This set is absolutely up there with Mang0 v. Lucky at TBH 4, and Hax v. Westballz at Nebs

Honestly, it's Mango and Leffen, so it's gonna be good Melee even with flubs, and they were playing so good and aggressive the whole time until each mom's spaghetti moment, of course, so I think the flubs just made it even more intense.

@@radreviewz9482 even though melee looks 2D, if you look from above, you can see that the models have a certain depth to them. You can dodge grabs in the z axis. Although here it looks like he might have just still been invincible. Here's how it works. That 3rd dimension is much overlooked but during the characters' turn around animation, he moves in the z axis (depth) and can avoid hitboxes that dont take the entirely of the space.

Commentary these days aren’t as analytic as Toph in this set. Literally the first game, Toph describes a way Leffen wins neutral by turn around up-tilt and it happens AS he’s explaining it! Who knows, maybe no one can ever be as good as he is.

It was only right. We got to see every single side of mango. The Kid (this set: never sleep on the kid), the GOAT (set vs m2k), the Buster (obviously vs Armada). Mango was mentally spent after facing Armada, then Leffen, then Hbox, then m2K, then Armada again.

i actually think that mango was incredibly lucky against Leffen and he faced a mew2king playing like crap which fueled his momentum. Mango even walked up to M2k saying that Jason had never played that bad against him lol. The reverse 4 stock on Hbox was the real highlight of mangos performance

how was mango lucky vs leffen? leffen got like 8 lucky shine spikes. mango completely outplayed leffen but leffens less than 20% shine spikes is what evened it out so much

Melee is such a beauty. This game was out for over 15 years during this point yet no one has seen anything like that.

He knew Leffen would try and combo him so he delayed his landing. It's a genius move to do that so suddenly. Mang0 is that fighter who was born a genius and relies on instinct. If he was half as analytical as Armada, he would've dominates everyone.

I'll never forget that up b. What a plot twist that was. Looking at it now, he avoided an upsmash and then leffen barely shields in time but chases falco with a wavedash oos after and things happen again in falcos favor. He could have wavedashed away but chose to chase instead. Many tight and calculated gambles in such a game, that are all extremely skill dependant. So good. I'll be watching melee for a long time, I'm sure. It's funny but I now see this set a little differently after netplay now only has frozen stadium. I think frozen needs to be the new irl tournament standard but it probably will be.

I thought the same thing too. Mango looked exhausted after going through Leffen, HBox, and M2K. Beating those three in a row could not have been easy by any means. Such a shame because people were expecting some real close games in Grand Finals, myself included, but Armada was just unrelenting. I was literally holding my breath watching this live. I was that nervous! I have to give props to Leffen though. That guy was on fire!
