@@edwinvega6330 Both characters are barely used. Mewtwo because of his weight and tail hibox problem. Sephiroth because of his horrible frame data, tipper dependent, lightweight and attacks that sometimes do not hit or work at all.

@@Yokai_Yuri Sephiroth is still generally considered top 20 or top 15. It's just that he's not as broken as most of the characters that are super-represented, because he has clear weaknesses, but he's still an excellent character. Mew2 is good after all the buffs but nowhere near that level.

@@Yokai_Yuri sephiroth is not bad. He's insane. Some argue best in the game. I don't agree with that but the arguement is there. Top 20. Mewtwo however is a niche because tail and some inconsistent moves.

Problem with that is that Mewtwo has two ways to deal with Sephiroth counter: Shadow Ball and Confusion. Since Sephiroth counter is a projectile confusion punishes the auto-release as well as being the grab hitbox that doesn't trigger the counter like you saw once in this set. And since Sephiroth Counter doesn't really do anything to projectiles a charged Shadow Ball can just break it. Sephiroth counter is better against other characters, but it's one of the reasons I favor Mewtwo in this matchup, along with the generic projectile superiority.

Mewtwo isn’t my primary character but I definitely play Mewtwo a lot, enough to consider him part of my lineup.

They do share a few similarities. The devs are known to start with existing characters when creating new ones (like how Bayo used ZSS as a base). Been suspecting Mewtwo was the base character for Sephiroth.

Mewtwo has superior frame data, ledge traps and actually good attacks thay can help for the situation. Sephiroth can have all the range he wants but he hits like nothing if he does not tipper, he does not really have a set up combo/ traps and on tops of that Seph is mega light and shielding +punishing is super effective against him.

Idk man ned is so good at turning shit around when it counts i mean after all it got him two games in a row where one loss would have meant it was over for him. I feel like his playstyle is to meander for a bit and go for things he knows wont work the best to condition to make people fall for the hardest hitting counterplay when it counts the most. Especially that game 4 comeback it just seems like he was waiting to really exploit the tail hitbox up until that point and when he revealed his trap card while having wing it got him the match.

Nah, only in wifi it is. It's the same deal as Palu explosive flame in that it's punishable and not perfect

@@cornesalvo9366 it’s not punishable if your opponent is off stage and you’re center stage. MkLeo uses it like that all the time. It can’t be punished as long as you use it for edge guarding. Once your opponent is off stage you charge it up and throw it to where it explodes at the ledge. It’s a great edge guarding move

People can wait out the flare with their recovery, and chars with teleport recoveries can pass through the explosion and smack sephiroth for it, like Wadi did in the video with Mewtwo's upB. It's probably only good against characters with bad recovery, but those guys are edgeguarded by everything so yeah

@@doogy947 I have seen it hit although it is rare. An attack doesn’t necessarily have to hit to be effective though. Sometimes it can be used to force your opponent into a position they don’t want to be in and set you up for a punish

That's what i said! To deal with shadow ball mainly. The hit box is HUGE after catching a projectile, weak or strong

@@DudleyOP it has good range once it catches one though i tested it The range is about as big as the space in between the two platforms on small battlefield. You don't have to be directly next to them for it to work, you can be up to a few steps away, and it's a better option than shielding when you sorta close cuz if you shield shadow ball, mewtwo can just grab you

@@DudleyOP wadi was catching his landings semi close with sb Since you can counter in the air, it lets seph land not only safely, but offensively. Try out in training mode sometime, on small battlefield. You'll see for yourself how far away seph counter can punish mewtwo for sb And how absurdly early it kills him for it Like at 40% with wing 50% without

He’s somewhere between High and Top tier for sure, but his definite placement is still debatable. We’ll see over time.

It’s kinda hard to tell, since no one really uses him, but I guess that says it all. I’d say he’s high mid teir or bottom of high teir.
