Here are some Pre-Cert VHS Original tapes I used to own back in the day! Wish I still owned some of them now!!

Wolfen has Tom Waits singin in the bar, Jon. I don't really remember the film that well but I remember that! The good old days of pre certs, I really wish I'd kept them too. cheers Mate

I have a folder with a list of vinyl albums & singles and at the end I also wrote of vhs videos I bought and even wrote a few blank tapes I recorded entire series on. ie; Star Trek [ which I since got on dvd ] I also got Robin of Sherwood [ again now have on dvd ] but I also listed Live Rock concerts on tv inc' Profiles of Rock...like Jimi Hendrix & The Who. Got so many movies I taped listed too. Some very rare never been released. I have from a mini series known as Police Story [ different every week ] This one is called " A Chance to Live " starring David Cassidy as a police officer going undercover to a high school to stop a drug gang. He begins with short hair but at the school becomes the long haired Cassidy we all know from his music & tv series The Partridge Family so is still about the same age. It's a great movie and his acting is good in it. It's funny as I'm looking right now through this list and finding so many of the same movies I now have on dvd. ... without checking the list when I bought them, so there were many I forgot I had taped. Lol .... I bought "The Yakuza" starring Robert Mitchum, only a week or so back .... and it's here on the vhs list. I remember hiring "Handgun" from the video library. It's a good movie but so long ago I couldn't tell you the synopsis. Lol 'Soldier Blue' has been on tv last year on Legend channel twice. .. Uncut. ... before cgi, so how they did the girl running, beheaded by a soldier on horseback, I don't know how they did that. Shocking scenes today, so imagine how shocking at the time at the cinema....where I saw it....I was 14, yet got in .. my older sister took me. Lol I don't think we knew just how bad it was going to be. We just knew it was X Rated. Lol ...Hey, my dad sneaked me in to see "Vanishing Point" aged 15.... and The French Cooection ! Lol I really enjoyed this vhs list thankyou. Regards Jim

Wolfen is a gem. I think a lot of people were hoping for another American Werewolf or Howling back in the early 80s, but it should be watched on its own terms. It’s in the HMV Premium Collection so well worth another look if you can get it in the 2 for £15 promotion.

I do think that it was misinterpreted on release and I might give it another try down the line, as you say I was expecting blood and transformations at the time 😵‍💫🤩 cheers again Barrie 😊😊👍👍

Handgun is a pretty decent movie. It used to get shown quite a lot on late night TV.

@@MondoChelloveckMovies it's largely forgettable but the training scene on the shooting range is great. It's like a diluted version of Extremities or Lipstick

Just had mausoleum special edition of treasured films with free poster and fridge magnet 🧲 ordered direct. Also got my replacement discs off 88 films 🎥 for house on the edge of the park 😊😊

I still have the very first pre cert of soldier blue ( before the embassy release )and it was uncut released on magnetic video ( use to be in a cardboard carton). It is the same uncut version that I also have on US dvd and later blu ray. A much longer stronger bloodier version was never released on any format.

Rare label that one Wayne 🤔😲👍👍 just had a search for the cover, don't remember it but it was quite unique with the thick blue border 😁👍👍.... is the longer version a bit like The Devils? There's a longer cut but it's not really available from the vaults? Cheers again Wayne 😁😁👍👍

I remember recording Wolfen off the telly many years ago. I saw it listed in the TV guide (with a picture of the poster) and thinking it sounded amazing. It wasn't! 😅 Maybe I will go back and watch it one day with fresh eyes and find something I like about it?

Yeah Kevin I hear that a lot with Wolfen, people expecting a different movie, I think I watched it twice but that was a long time ago but I don't think I'll resist it Kevin, if you ever do let me know if it connects with you 🤔👍👍 maybe if it just had a picture of a Wolf on the streets it might work better for when people buy it 🤔😁😁👍👍

@@MondoChelloveckMovies I will do John. Lol I agree with you about what the poster should be! I don't like werewolf movies where the creature is just an actual wolf. It seems cheap to me. The only exception for me is an Amicus movie called The Beast Must Die. The "werewolf" in that is just a dog wearing a shaggy coat but it's such a camp fun movie that I can forgive it's sins. 🤣

@kevinburke3573 cheers, I agree with you that Wolves don't work for me! I like a Werewolf transition 👌👌 haha yeah the Beast must Die is a cracking film and I agree it doesn't take away from the movie! Saying that the cover doesn't misrepresent the movie 👍👍

The Wolfen cover is comparable to the art of JAWS. But with the only difference being Wolfen not delivering the ultimate Werewolf movie. For me that honour belongs to The Howling.

My dad let me watch evil dead when i was kid. But cannibal ferox he said no am i NOT watching that film. Both my parents have passed away over the past few years. Thought there was a original VHS of cannibal ferox in loft of my parents house. Only thing i found was old SWFC programs, toys and old computer games. No cannibal ferox lol

Kudos on your dad for showing you Evil Dead 🤩🤩👍👍haha I don't think my dad knew about the Cannibal movies, but I don't think he would have liked that at all....well who would 🤮 its funny when your convinced something is a thing and it's nowhere to be seen 🤯🤯🥴 old computer games might be worth something! My nephew Jack plays for Sheffield Wednesday, he's 13 and a GREAT footballer 🤩🤩👍👍

Another fascinating video John. I remember Soldier Blue around the time it came out and my parents going to see it. As you say, there was a lot of talk about it in the playground, like The Exorcist yet somehow it seems to have been forgotten. I did see it around the time we first got a vhs player although can't remember much about it. I think it may have been heavily cut. Would be interested in seeing an uncut decent quality transfer. Really enjoying your videos, thanks.

Great memories Robert 🤩🤩👍👍 the school yard was the way to find out about all of these amazing forbidden titles and a lot of the tales were embellished to make them seem REALLY crazy!! I need to revisit it as you could tell the vhs was cut unfortunately and Happy to hear its available uncut from Europe and the US 🤩🤩👍👍 also thanks for the positive comments Robert!! I think it's really amazing how you kept a diary on everything you watched, John. I wish I had done something like that. I remember going down to the video shop and hiring Parasite. Such great times. When I watched Wolfen, I was expecting another American Werewolf but it wasn't.

Honestly I can't believe the stuff I wrote in here, I know I have a much better version of this book somewhere, I found it right at the start of my KZfaq channel over 3 years ago and haven't seen it since!! If I find that one it'll blow you (and myself) away 🤩🤩👌👌its great that the video could bring back a memory for you Gary, yeah I really thought Wolfen was another American Werewolf but it didn't work for me 🥴🥴🤩🤩👍👍

Hiya John, Codename: the soldier was a more violent James Bond type of action movie from the director of the exterminator. Decent action and stunts from what I can remember. If you want to own it again, I'll put it with the rest, got one on the shelf! 😂

Hi John Pre cert heaven. I have the full uncut version of soldier blue A very disturbing film For a film of 1970 This would have had the same effect that cannibal holocaust had in 1980. What man is capable of. Soldier blue is the western that told the truth of man's violence to Indians.

Handgun was released by EMI Films and financed by EMI. Tony Garnett, who produced Handgun, was a television producer and also helped produce for Woodfall Films Kes. Handgun is now owned by StudioCanal in France. As is vertually all of EMI Films back catalogue. MGM owns some of the later EMI movies like Dreamchild, Wild Geese 2, The Holcroft Covenant and Morons from Outer Space. Champions did get an Embassy Video re-issue with the exact same packaging for the early retail market in 1986.
