I was 8 years old when this song came out. Today, I'm an old man. Survived a accident where I died 3 times before I was stable enough for major back surgery. Ended up in a wheelchair, rest of my life. I survived to watch my wife of 28 years decide that living with a man in a wheelchair was not for her, so she left me for another man. I have had way to many storms and tornados. Today the meaning of this song is reveled.

(he was never there).. mom is alone with her husband and ive been to 10 different counties.. this song always knows how to make my nights after a 24 pack in the barracks room alone. In 1982 I seen Hank in concert 3 times and never was disappointed. I was 17 and senior in high school. Now I'm 56 and still never disappointed and still listen to his music. Raised my son and daughter on his music and Waylon. He still has the best line in any song ever Hey man them ain't high heel sneakers sure don't look like cowboy boots. That ain't rock n roll your playing sure ain't country rythm and blues.
