Thank you for posting this. I remember the route very well. Unlike others who have commented, I have so many great memories of the Waterfront (iMax) building. I was amazed with my future wife future ex-wife - by the huge screen showing a 3D film and we both looked forward to returning one day with our yet to be conceived children. iMax had closed by the time our first was born. We had our wedding reception at the Harvester’s Pub upstairs on the terrace. A very large American friend visiting for our wedding stepped into the lift and it sank about 2 feet! We returned many times for our son(s) to play in the soft play area. Many times more for meals or for the kids to enjoy a knickerbocker glory. It was a great vantage point for live shows and fireworks shows as well. I very much think it was a waste of money to buy and tear down only to end up with crazy golf in its place, with crazy gold a few meters away in the gardens anyway. I took my sons’ to the dinosaur exhibit going on at the BIC in this video. They also had movie memorabilia in a different area at the same time that we all enjoyed. Bournemouth, big love from Texas.

This is wonderful - I was born in Bournemouth in 1931 and left in 1967 for Norwich where I have lived ever since! I have taken the yellow bus (electric then) on many occasions. Thank you so much for this "treat" !!

This showed up randomly in my recommended and wow, what a trip down memory lane. Bizarre to see just how much and how little has changed. And I can’t believe how cheap petrol used to be wtf.

I simply loved this video. Thank you so much for letting me re-live these moments. I lived in Bournemouth for about 2 years while studying at the Bournemouth Uni and I revisited in 2010 as well. I love Bournemouth. This trip is so familiar and my son and I used to be so glad when we got the front seat on the double decker!

A great video. Every year my wife and I used to drive from East Kilbride, Glasgow to stay at the Chine Hotel, Boscombe for a couple of weeks. What wonderful memories we have of the whole area. The video brings back the excitement of nearing our destination after a nine-hour journey. The pictures have given me much pleasure over the years. Sincere thanks.

Was last there in 1961 before I moved to Australia. So much street clutter on the streets now- bollards, railings, unnecessary road markings, yellow marker signs, speed cameras etc. Traffic lights in the middle of the roads as well as at the side (why?). Open spaces just disappear.

Had to reply as I lived in Bournemouth from 1982 to1986 working at the Queens hotel. Also moved to the US in 1988 so we sort of have something in common. Going back in July and hooking up with some mates I have not seen since then......small world!!

A lot of shops boarded up in Boscombe back 90's this was thriving
@davidaston1644 Жыл бұрын
Despite what people say about Boscombe, It's always busy as it's the only place where there are any essential shops. Bournemouth centre is not very nice to live in. No shops, no parking, loads of drunk Stags, and Hens, etc. Just ugly and soulless really. Beach at Southbourne, or Hengistbury is also much more pleasant.
