I recorded here with Liam back in '04/'05 - we had a magnificent time with him in this wonderful studio. We learnt so much from him and it's still a proud achievement to me that he made us play everything live, which takes some discipline. He gave us a big warm fat sound with a killer reverb down the corridor, and we used a mixture of our amps and his amps. You can hear these recordings on most streaming sites - The New Shapes.

Awesome sounding recording studio....so blows away the modern DAW- based studios, in my opinion. So good to see.

I been a fan of stuff recorded at ToeRag since probably 96 when Steel Pole Bathtub recorded there. Even though I use computers myself, I like to approach recording with a philosophy very influenced by Liam's live recordings.

White Stripes showed a lot of people that you don't need to have the last musical gadgets to produce great music. In a studio with analog equipment or a home studio you can make top quality records. Less is more: they didn't have a bass, Meg had a basic kit with 3 cymbals, Jack has vintage guitars (many of them budget guitars of the era)... I think they're a great inspiration for indie musicians and producers. Thanks for sharing this video.
