You are confusing terms. A republic is the opposite of a monarchy. The opposite of a democracy is a dictatorship. You can be a constitutional republic or a constitutional monarchy and still be democracies. People that enjoy saying "WE ARE A CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC!" love shouting this to defend the fact that you are a two party ogliarchy. AKA staged billionare dictatorship.

Why even bring up that last part about abortion. Because to a good portion of Americans think Abortion is murder. You want to unify this country stop and listen to everyone and their side of the issues. But to bring up what she did at the end just put a bad taste in my mouth I thought she was talking some good points. But when she put that in the end I know it was not real or from the heart. Because reproductive rights is just a nice way to say murder. And you just got done talking about a persons being murdered and almost murdered and then you say what you said. I am trying to be nice and give her the benefit of the doubt that she might be sincere. Because this is something beyond political differences this is life we are talking about another humans life several human lives. Then you bring up that ending.

Kamala Harris has so far been the only American political leader to tell the American the truth. Everyone else, Joe Biden and Donald Trump included have acted shocked like this has never before happened to us. Kamala said the truth, it has but it is never the right answer to our disagreement. I appreciate her candor…. Now to your quip about abortion. MORE than half the country supported where we were as country on the issue, letting women chose. You lot upset the apple cart. But don’t act like you’ve got polls in your hand that said 50% of Americans were against abortion before the Dobbs decision or after, you don’t have that.

@@bernardwylie9760Blue States still have their abortion. Women who live there support it and are happy. Red States have banned or restricted abortion. Women who live there support it and are happy. It’s easier to change State laws than Federal laws so anybody unhappy with it has an easier path to change it. Isn’t democracy wonderful?

@@MrSkyydude France is a democratic republic, China is a dictatorship republic, the US falls into some middle ground with a "preselected approved options" that give you a two party ogliarchy republic. FPTP elections are undemocratic by design. The same way you have democratic and non-democratic monarchies, where the democratic ones just uses the royals as a "figure head with zero power".

There are many ways to do this, like with constitutional republics or whatever. constitutional republics can be democratic but they don't need to be. So, they are "not the same" in the sense that they are labels used for different things, but one does not exclude the other.
