Here's a fun fact... Those fords often have fuel pump kill switches that are triggered by impacts. Even if he hadn't have killed it, the thing would have probably shut off on it's own. I know this because my dad's 05 ranger had it. And I remember ending up on the side of the road many times because of that damn impact shutoff failing and tripping when it didn't need to trip.

Typical in short track racing, what ive been told by my pit crew is that if you can make it around the track, you keep going. It's a great feeling getting back out after a wreck, though i race shitboxes and i feel bad for Derek because he didnt want to damage the truck, but hey, you do what you can with what you got.

Derek-from my view-you handled it like a professional-no yelling or cursing at the 22 truck-just one of those racing incidents. I am glad no one got hurt other than the truck. We can replace the truck-can’t replace you. Love what you do and keep up the great content. Daniel.

Derek, as difficult as this was, it showed you at your very best: your excellent driving, your calm immediately after the accident, the ability to maintain a professional demeanor throughout, not blaming anyone(never once did you point the finger at your "assailant" ). Yeah, I'd be pissed myself and be demanding 22 be disqualified. Derek handed it all with a cool head and that makes a big difference.

I think the racing gets a bit too rough to still call it a race. Why not have legitimate banger racing rounds for the boys to vent and run clean racing separated.

I get a little teary-eyed thinking of how proud your boys have to be seeing their dad out there on the track. Every kids first super hero is their mom or dad. Some always are.

@@scottinWV Yeah but mom was probably quite shocked too, I know I would have been. My wife basically forbid me from entering a track, but calmed down when she saw that regular drift tracks are pretty safe.

My dad used to do local dirt track races and it was so cool to me that my dad was a race car driver. One time he got hit and got sent into the ditch and drove it back up out of the 7-8ft ditch and I remember everyone cheering for him and I will remember that moment for the rest of my life.

Last time it was Tanner Faust who wrecked him. I believe Tanner did it on purpose. He didn't want to be shown up by a farm boy. This looked like regular racing, even tho 22 should have know better .

Amazing to see all the aspects of safety equipment functioning perfectly. Track goes red and everybody stops. Driver wrecks and remains calm. Roll cage and harness worked flawlessly. Emergency responders were on point. This is a perfect example of why everyone messing around behind the wheel should have proper safety equipment.

@@NoWr2Run Yeah I saw that Derek was his first target, the guy didn't want him to get anywhere, then - when got away with both ramming and flipping Derek - he took a green to go do it to everyone else. Got to say owners of this track need to get tough with drivers like 22; cheating and aggressive driving like that is NOT good for the race community and it could get someone hurt bad or killed. 22 should NOT have been allowed to win after that kind of behaviour.

Derek you’re the best. You make a guy want to join in man hugs with you. God bless you and your’s! You provide the best entertainment a guy can get these days at any price. The fact that you include your lady and the little ones in this entertainment makes it all the more better. Since my babies were little ( they’re 25 & 27 now ) I included them in everything I did, much like you do. They’ve been with me on many car purchases. Silly me never thought to video it. Again, nothing but love, you bring a smile to an old guy’s face! I love it when you restart it and your says “ it’s smoking”, again ain’t nothing better than including the little ones in everything we do. Brings a tear to an old dad’s eye

As a multiple ranger owner, there's just something right in rolling her over horrendously bad at the beginning, then starting her up and running with the leaders at the end. That's the epitomy of a ford ranger.

My '94 was the best running vehicle I have owned in 30 years. Had to get rid of it about 15 years ago because it quite literally rotted out under neath me. Damn north east winters. The engine was still only one turn of the key the day it was towed away. (

It is a shame that #22's strategy was to try and hit everyone on the track in order to win. However he will reap what he sews another day. Glad you are ok and I am confident that you can get the old girl back on the road. It looks like it was an awesome family day enjoyed by all.

When he kept pushing to the inside as you neared each turn, I knew that was coming. I sucked in my breath 3 times he was so far up beside you as you were going into the turn. And each time, he was further into the danger zone. I'm just glad you weren't hurt.

Ya know, Garrett is single handedly changing my opinions about SOME ferds. Those crown vics don’t stop, and that little ranger, MAN! And fantastic display of control during that crash. Steer away, stay calm. Then you rolled and IMMEDIATELY shut it down. Thaaat is how you save vehicles right there. You might have had to lay her down, but you still saved it Derek!!

It's a Ranger. They're a dime a dozen. Sucks because it was a clean example, minus the guady interior. It would not be worth the bodywork, but definitely everything else.

I'm an old guy, my kids have been grown up and gone a long time, but my boys still remember when we had a problem we didn't ever give up, and as adults they don't either. You going back out and racing showed your boys something that winning that race wouldn't have taught them. I'm glad you weren't hurt, and I'm especially glad you went back out there and did what you intended to do, and that's have fun and race like hell. Your sons won't forget those lessons either. :)

Man, I’m glad you and everyone else who competed are still all in one piece. I held my breath on your rollover for a sec. When James went over in the infield I was real concerned… I knew those high centers of gravity were gonna get sketchy. I’d have thought they’d do a bit more cage.

That's not fair to say. I've watched it over and over and over and that truck didn't make a move. His tires stayed on the apron and 20 inches from the grass the whole time. VGG just turned down on him. Just a bad blind spot situation.

That moose in heat noise when it’s idling is the IAC. Idle control valve. A piece broke inside and the air rushing past vibrates it and makes that sound.

IIRC it's the idle air control valve. I had a couple Ford Contours that were good for a moosing now and then. One of the most annoying sounds I've ever heard. A restrictive pipe end cap drilled then jammed into the IAC intake tube was a common fix on the Contour forums.

I'm surprised the inertia switch for the fuel pump didn't cut out when you rolled it. Glad you're safe and keep up the great videos.

inertia switch only kills fuel pump not ignition....truck will still run on the pressure in the line for up to about 10 seconds before stalling
