Brilliant! Another astounding performance by this great man, completely ad-lib and in character. For me, his guest shots on other people's chat shows were generally funnier than his own, semi-scripted shows.

I love Dame Edna but i have yet to see an interviewer a witty as she is... she's so good that most of them are lagging behind only thinking of the next question they're gonna ask

I love Vicki .. but she did not know her guest well enough .. to know that you don't have a 'conversation with' the Great Dame. But rather, become, at best, a 'straight man', and just let her roll! (Face to face with the prostate - L M A O!)

Ughhh Vicki dropped the ball here. Read a room and let Dame Edna just roll. In my opinion a good talk show host or hostess gives the floor and guides the guest not manipulate the hour.

Vicki Lawrence the comedienne didn't have this talk show for long. I was surprised, the WKBD 50 advertisement means this was originally recorded in the Detroit, Michigan USA area.

I dunno. I’ve seen a few interview clips with Dame Edna recently, and I think this is just how it was. The point was to let her ‘wing it’ and for the host to appear to try and ‘keep up’. Meaning, it looks like Vicki is interrupting, but it’s just part of the gig.

Vicki wasn't cancelled. Her show being taken from her and given to 'guest' hosts tanked the ratings and then was morphed into the Marilu Henner show which was cancelled. Vicki's show was awesome and is better than all the subsequent daytime talk shows put together. No wonder people say you have no taste.

This Vicki person, is trying so hard to be funny, imitating Dame Edna, but it doesn't work at all, because Dame Edna is always guided by intellectually superior humour, and nobody can surpass the way she can cut down every self obsessed ego to size.

"This Vicki person" has been around T.V. probably longer than your parents have been alive and is an Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated actress (for "The Carol Burnett Show"). "This Vicki person" also had a #1 hit in the 1970s with "The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia". That's how "This Vicki person" managed to land guests like Dame Edna. Now... tell us about *your* little talk show.

So many people were so unsettled by Dame Edna that they really couldn't see the humour. Particularly in the USA, a man in women's clothing shook them to the core. It's better nowadays, but Dame Edna was the ultimate piss-take, especially of the British establishment.

Vicki is not a comedian. She’s a comedic actress like Lucy. She wouldn’t get comedy 🎭 she just memorized lines and can conjure up a character magnificently. That’s all

I think some of the people in the audience do not realize that Dame Edna is a character. They talk to her as if she's a real person! They do not get the point of Dame Edna at all! It is completely lost on them. Could there have ever been such a naive and innocent time? The gynecologist jokes got no response at all!

God this is painful. Every time Dame works up to a joke she gets interrupted by uninteresting boring stuff. They don’t share the room with her. They cut her off like when people don’t like someone. I dont think Vicki wanted her on the show or something. Maybe she has some prejudices? I hope not. I love Mamas Family
