Irishman living in Oz here... we have a fair understanding of oppression, imperialism, colonialism, apartheid, genocide and ethnic cleansing. What's happening in Gaza, and also the West Bank, ticks every one of these boxes. Always look at who supports or opposes any event or policy. Netanyahu, Murdoch, Trump, christian nationalists and extreme right-wingers of all types VS students, human rights defenders, most African, Asian and South American governments along with Ireland, Spain, Belgium and massive public support in Europe, US, Canada, Australia and NZ. History will not be kind to Israel and its supporters but they will do everything to extirpate Palestinians before they're hauled before the ICJ... again.

I've been a Labor supporter for most of my adult life. They have lost my vote over this. I saw Penny Wong tone police a question about defunding UNWRA rather than just answering the question. The Palestinian children deserve better from our government.

Last year I was watching the Canadian parliament give a standing ovation to an SS man. I knew what he was and so did they, in fact the Canuck PM and his guests had met earlier in that day. It was then I really wanted out of here. At one time we used to kid ourselves that if we weren't 'good' then at least we weren't 'evil'. I'm not religious or anything but it was the Aussie self-image as a good bloke. But now all they seem to want is some inane excuse to shout into an argument. Some dumb 'meme'. Anything rather than to look at who we are, who we support and what we do. The West which Australians think we are part of has really lost its way. We'll do anything for the crumbs our big boss the USA gives us when it tells us to do, no matter how disgusting. And no we have our elected politicians denying a literal genocide right in front of our eyes and helping it along. History will not be kind to us.

Labor make a great opposition party. They'll tell the public everything they want to hear while in opposition, but when they get a chance to change things while in government they keep the status quo. Sure, let's start with the Albanese government giving $25 Million to ECAJ for "safety measures" across Australia. Somehow we don't have a functioning legal, police or national security system so we need to give taxpayer money to quasi security initiatives run by lobby groups (we are putting DV victim families in car parks in the meanwhile despite the Gov's "deepest concern") FF> and we then find that the deputy head of the ECAJ coordinated the machinations to sack ABC journalist, Lattouf for her allegations of war crimes. Yet later on, mass graves of hog-tied combatants of the IDF have been found, aka war crimes.

Israel has killed 40000+ Palestinians, 2/3 of them Children and Women. I would call that ethnic targeting, and against the rules of war, which the ICC are looking into. Genocide is a crime, and Israel have committed the crime of the century. Any good will that was bestowed on Israel as the sufferers of the Holocaust has been completely and utterly squandered by this once respected country and its people and pathetic supporters.
