Assuming the gun was legally owned and that he had a permit to carry a concealed weapon (if applicable), you would be absolutely correct, but those are also things the police need to verify.

The taller guy in the cap had a gun in his left hand which he fired. The shorter guy had a weapon in his right hand which he was attempting to hide it by folding his arms before the victim sent hot lead in his direction. But what we can see is that "Blue Shirt" defended himself from a person whom essentially came out of nowhere and brandished a firearm. And he wasn't alot, he was outnumbered 2 to 1. Firearms are not toys. What would've happened if the main who came out of a car did that to a Police Officer? The response would have been similar to Mr. Blue Shirt. I’d assume they want to find him for questioning. You are supposed to call the Police so they can start there investigation. You are supposed to place the gun down out of the way so arriving Officer’s don’t have any confusion or feel a threat. Upon their arrival, you notify where you place the gun and what happened from your perspective. After the questioning and investigation they let you go if it’s justified which in this case it would be.

@@THE_LOST_FINEST This is not BS and no one thinks gun laws will evaporate all gun crimes automatically. What they do, and are proven to do, is reduce gun violence when implemented. What you do find is often criminals will obtain guns from other states where it is easier to procure a gun OR gun owners not properly securing their guns and they are stolen. To dismiss more stringent laws around gun usage as "BS" is just being willfully dismissive over safety issues. I'm not anti gun, but it shouldn't be a simple process to own a gun....for every video like this I can pull up videos of negligent lawful gun owners.

I’m sorry but that is the most stupid thing you could have said. Typically on shootings that are self defense related, they need the self defender for statement purposes so they can prosecute the people of the attempted robbing. The other guy was clearly the aggressor, there was intimidation with an intent with a deadly weapon. It’s really infuriating for people who are involved with law enforcement to see comments like this because you clearly don’t educate yourself on the topic. And on the other hand, the police want to verify this guy is a permitted ccw holder and owned the gun. If he wasn’t the most they will do is a slap on the wrist for the gun because it was an action of self defense unless you are a registered felon.

The issue here is they need him, the victim of the robbery attempt for the robbery charges. They have the suspects now they need him to close the case.
