We examine the cases of two girls from different countries and backgrounds who shared a similar fate at the hands of the Nazis.
The astounding number of men, women & children who died because of the ideology of a few.
This could happen again, albeit with a subtler method and hidden agenda.
Let us never forget...don't let present or future governments erase our history.
My dear friends, Oddie Beau your favourite historian, is a one-man band - and these features take up a lot of my time, if you enjoy them and you wish to support my work, there are two options:

I've been in more than one disagreement after pointing out that more than one particular group was targeted. People aren't taught true history anymore, and because of this, so much is being lost. Even now, they are trying to erase and destroy more and more of our past. We must work to maintain it and keep it alive.

You know that your Oddites won't let this video get buried. We can't really stop it from being demonetized if the algorithm so decrees, but we won't let it disappear. People need to know about these histories. Everybody knows about the diary of Anne Frank, but there were so many more children victimized than just her and her story has been sanitized in the publication process. Please keep sharing these desperately important, nearly lost pieces of history. We all need to know, whether we want to or not.

You are so correct. It's scary because the media and internet go with the mainstream narrative as Oddie said. I don't know where you are but here in America we are dealing with corrupt politicians, the Supreme Court is bought and paid for, sex and drug trafficking as well as prostitution, severe homelessness, mental illness, and gun violence is a daily issue. Mass shootings happen monthly sometimes. We, also, have a former President who should be held accountable for keeping classified documents at his home but he's campaigning to become President again. Not to mention the fact that said former President was deemed civilly liable for sexual assault. He continued talking about his victim which prompted another lawsuit. So, yes. The Holocaust, Slavery, and other atrocities could occur again because those in power look the other way unless they're authority is questioned. It's a mess worldwide. Be easy now. God bless us all.

Ursulas story really hits home for me, as I have a very complicated seizure disorder, which at one time was completely out of control. I also had very bad reactions to most seizure meds which caused the partial seizures to become worse. I became an epileptic after meningitis as an adult, I had seizures where I was confused, and could not be still and would ceaselessly wander the house. It seemed all the Drs were worried about was the gran- mals, and migraines, prescribing copious amounts of medication. This went on , off and on for 15 years, until I decided to take myself off my seizure medication slowly and against Drs orders. ( I am in no way recommending this for you!) Praise God this eventually worked and i didn't have what I termed ( stupid seizures) anymore. The gran -mals eventually became much less severe and only happened in my sleep when both my sons talked me into trying cannabis for my seizures. I also decided to adopt an optimistic attitude, saying I would get better. I remember the looks people gave me , even my family, as I repeated this phrase over and over. I now live a productive and happy life , and take no medication, ( aside from cannabis) these tend to have the opposite effect for me . If I had been in Germany, I would have been killed, and even in the US in those days very likely institutionalized. My heart breaks for these people. For anyone out there struggling for years and years, don't give up, I nearly did, my family and God kept me going. Though I was mad at Him for a good long time. I know he carried me through.

As United States citizen I can assure you, you are exactly right. So many of us do know what the government's doing. Unfortunately so many people are dependent upon the government for their daily bread. I have learned that if you stay under the radar you're probably okay. They play their games, we play ours. When they screw over the wrong people maybe something will happen, but I don't see it.

Fellow US citizen here, and you are quite right. I think there is more of an underground than we think- in the sense of just living their lives and being good people. Just being good in life is becoming a chore- the thug mentality that’s more and more prevalent would have us physically fighting each other. Maybe that’s the (distracting) point.

My grandmother immigrated to New Jersey from Poland, with her family, in 1947. She was placed in a Nazi work camp as a teen, because they were Catholic, I believe. I don't know what the story is, exactly, because she would never talk about it. But I know she was in a refugee camp because I still have the metal drinking cups that they were issued there. I also had, at one point, a cut out from a newspaper with a picture of my great grandparents that had a blurb saying they were celebrating their first American Thanksgiving at some club or church, or charity, or something. But unfortunately, I don't know where it is now. I always wondered what exactly happened because my grandmother would never talk about it. I always suspected that it messed her up pretty bad because she was kind of abusive toward me and my dad and had some sort of mental issues, that she never got any kind of help for. Everyone always talks about what the Nazis did to the Jews, but you never hear much about what they did to the Catholics.

Thank you so much for telling Ursula's story. Epilepsy is the oldest documented medical condition yet the least talked about. It has a very dark history. At different points in time epileptics would be neutered, put in an Epilepsy colony, separated from other psychiatric patients in hospital because they were thought to be contagious and were exorcised to expel the evil. These stories are never told so it's good to hear someone revealing one of the dark sides. Today for some it can be controlled but still comes with great expense, financially and mentally. Sadly stigmas still exist and some people still get frightened. About 25% of people with epilepsy experience suicidal ideation (something that isn't talked about), this can be from a poor quality of life, mental health issues and can be one of the side effects of the medications. Euthanasia wouls be tempting for many. These days I fear more for the healthy. There are certain industries that make a lot of money from people with disorders while taxpayers contribute to those costs. If you come across any disturbing tales about epilepsy many would love to hear them and have other people learn from them. Be careful of using the word epileptic or fits as people will get offended 😉 I apologise for such a long comment. Thank you again!

Thank you for yet another thought-provoking and visually wonderful presentation. This one really got to me. My father was in the US Navy during WWII. Both he and my mother would occasionally speak about that time- with facial expressions I can only describe as grief-stricken. Sometimes my mother would have tears in her eyes. All the points you touch on in this piece are becoming frighteningly relevant- again! If my parents were still alive, they would be, by turns, nervous and appalled at the steps backward Earth seems to be taking. Maybe the “blessing” turned curse called the internet can one day be a sort of phoenix and become a blessing once more- allowing us to repair the damage we’ve done. I hope so. The images of those dear little girls will be hard, if not impossible for me to forget. I sincerely hope others are affected the same way. Terrific piece. Thank you, Anita

Even in her innocence and youth she knew that horror was coming with the Nazis. The smart girl touch of naming her bike Friday gives us a small glimpse of the intelligence and light that was lost in such sweeping devastation. Her diary is such a clear and sad voice yelling out of the darkness, such eloquence as the curtain came down. Diaries like hers, stress the people who were lost, bring us back from the #'s that we can not truly conceive. Stalin said 1 death is a tragedy but a million deaths is a statistic. But those million had a million personal stories. We must always remember the individuals lost as well as remember that it wasn't a machine that killed them but individuals as well who decided the deaths and did the killing.

When I was active duty military , I had exact medical personal complain when I was prescribed by doctors some medicine they thought was too expensive but necessary , like it was only for those who were high ranking and from the rich families. Luckily the bean counters at that time were not not too common . There are too many people who would "burn" down their own "home" to deny others in country I live in. As child I met a woman who bake me most delicious rum cakes I ever tasted in my life, she would wait for me to show up and let me pour the rum or other liquor on hot cake so we could enjoy fragrance steam from the cake together. She had an number tattooed on her wrist from surviving extermination camp in her childhood. She would never tell about the camps because that was not for an childs ears, so at early age I read every book on the Holocaust I could get my hands on. I understand now how an such terrible thing was hard for her to talk about. Knowing about the holocaust helped with surviving own my hard childhood, thank you Mrs Bubbly for being positive influence in my life.

Oddie, Thank you for this video. My Father's family is mostly German, with just a few specks of Irish and Polish mixed in. Our family came here to the states in the late 1600's. None of our family was ever involved in what Hitler did. Yet, I still feel guilty for what happened. This is such a sad story. My Grandmother got pregnant by a polish man when she was 13, she gave birth at 14. My great-grandmother didn't care about her age, only cared that it was polish man. That was a bad thing then. Back then, a mother could tell a doctor what to do, and he did it. My grandmother was told she was having her appendix out, but in reality, she was sterilized by a doctor by my great grandmother's word. My Father was the only child she ever had.

Thank you for bringing light to these two innocents. So many people in the United States deny the Holocaust ever happened. I met a wonderful survivor years ago. I could have listened to his stories for days. I bought two pictures from his yard sale and will cherish them always.

We all know that this was the darkest, most evil time in history, where the evil that men can do brought about the mass murder over 6 million people… That being said, I feel we often forget that they were individual people, with hopes, dreams, and personalities. And that some were little girls who named bicycles that they never got to ride. Thank you for bringing a human element to this.

My hat goes off to you, Dear Oddie! This bit o' history is so relevant to today. Too many of today's generation knows little to nothing about that Era, and too many were victim to this way of thinking. I studied history in college almost 25 years ago. I've grown to distrust both sides. History has never been more important than it is now! Each side has it's own agenda. I am with you on your thoughts on democracy. I've never believed in the voting system in the US, and 2000 was the year that solidified it for me with the Bush/Gore election. It has only become worse since then. It is beyond fixing, and some things I have said would happen, have come to be.....sad, really.

Heartbreaking is an understatement Oddie, it's horrible to watch their evil acts as a whole, when you start hearing individual stories, especially from children, omg, so many innocent people, so many wars, imagine if the world's armies joined together and said, no more, all of them, and left the cowardly leaders open and naked, not so tough then. I shouldn't torturing myself picturing it in my mind. 😣😒 when I seen Russian soldiers leaving to stay in Ukraine, and one Russian police officer tear up his passport and say he'd disowned Russia, I thought imagine if they all stood together, they'd be unstoppable. You know what they did take down after 3 days, the documentary Hellstorm. Which really proved, there's no evil countries, just evil individuals, hang on, I just missed that self portrait, I have to go back ✨️✨️✨️👍.
