The light on the back is the equivalent of a tail light. I'm not sure how effective it is since it seems kind of small. Maybe it does better at night.

Very good review, Dave! The biggest problem have come across Amazon headlamps is the wire coming out of the battery pack is made from multiple things wires(think like hair-thin), so if you're moderately active, or frequent user, wire has the tendency to pull Out of hole! Any similar issues w/this or any other headlamp supplier?

I’m still searching ALL of the internet, but what the heck does the power button do? It doesn’t turn the power on/off to the headlamp or the batteries. When I press the power button once, the red light turns on the back of the battery cover, a second press causes that solid red light to flash, and a third press turns it back off. From what I can tell, it’s completely pointless to the operation of the headlamp or the charging speed/time of the batteries. Does anyone know what this button is for if nothing more than to satiate my curiosity? Lol
