Embargo's can also be used as a weapon to break a powerful nation. In one of my first playthroughs before I had learned much about the game I was playing as Spain, around mid game I started wondering why my pops were struggling to get cloths, by this time I was the #2 producer of fabrics in the world and should have had plenty at a reasonable price for my shops and citizens alike. After doing some investigating I finally tracked down why my fabrics were so expensive, it turns out France had been siphoning off huge quantities (7000's) of my fabrics for their clothing industry leaving my poor pops struggling to put clothes on their backs. After instituting the embargo on France their economy completely fell apart, and within five years they had split into three different countries and my pops soon had some of the cheapest clothes in the world. Nowadays I don't think I would have used the embargo like I did against France in that game, but it was an interesting lesson on how embargoing could be used in the future.

I love one aspect of micromanaging that's similar to hearts of iron and that's holding a defensive position until the enemy bar goes from green to red and then as soon as their attack fully fails you switch to the offensive and attack while they're weak try to push it for a couple provinces then return to the defensive and repeat. Concerted long-term offensives always end up costing the attacker more dearly so doing it in short bursts helps keep your casualties low in the enemy casualties high

in the early game, if your fleet is not large enough to properly support your naval invasions, you can still do them. just slow the clock down and the day that the invasion arrives, reassign the naval commander to do something else. he will sail away and take the insufficient naval support debuff with him. probably not intended gameplay

New to the vic series and have been watching a lot of videos. I genuinely think you have the best tips videos. You hit the perfect level of enough in depth that if I didn't previously know the tip I can learn, but not so in depth that I'm like "jeez ok ok" if I already know it. Your pacing is great and I'm going to have to give that Perisa series you mentioned a watch 👀

Clear, concise and engaging instruction. Time stamps in description. You are putting out some of the best Vicky 3 tutorial/info videos IMHO. You stick to a clear point of information, after explaining the basic idea you then explain why its relevant, citing examples. I dont know if you have any actual teaching background, but you have some good skills in that area. Thank you for the hard work you put into these videos.

The most useful mechanic in the game that I've found is that you can directly use the market tab to build. If you click on a product in the market you can see where it's being produced and used in your country, if you click through onto the type of building that produces it, it shows you which states would be more profitable to build more in, then you just click on the ones with the most £££ to add to the build queue. IDK if that was just obvious to some people; one of the weird things I've found about V3 is that there's a few different ways to do most things and the most obvious way (i.e seeing I have expensive goods, going into state menus and building more production manually) isn't necessarily the most efficient.

Good Video! I (as ITALY 1882) have the Problem, that France and some other Nations buying my market empty of several goods. My Solution: Do not Embargo them, besides you intentionally want to damage the relations with them! I just try to build more factories and farms to provide these goods and make a ton of moey with tariffs (Protectionism). It's in most cases, better to make more money and just build up , instead to prevent the Trade with EMbargo and miss a lot of income. ONly because of France i get 10 k weekly with tariffs atm.

It is i.m.o. good not to confuse the concept of troops versus units in order to avoid major misunderstandings among spectators. I like to see the manpower (the pop troops numbers) existing inside the battalion and flottila units. By just telling battalion/flotilla numbers you don't tell much as these are not troops but units that contains less of more troops. Indeed less or more troops because there can by huge manpower (troops) differences between individual battalions/flotillas. The Vic3's battle mechanism (not to be confused with the concept of war system) basically matches that of Hoi4. Therefore is knowing the actual troop numbers and morale levels inside battalion and flottila units i.m.o. of huge importance as manpower and morale levels in battalion of flottila units can drops significant during campaigns and battles. A battalion contains mostly only it's maximum troop numbers of 950 servicemen and 50 officer pop's after the unit is created or being complete reinforced what can takes a long amount of time if almost all troops in a unit are destroyed. Check the actual troop numbers inside the battalions or flottila's (very easy to see in the Vic3 interface, so why not showing these?) otherwise you have no idea how strong (or weak) armies or fleets really are. An army or fleet with 10 battalion.flottila units can contain more troops (fighting power) than a formation with 20 battalions or flottila's. A unit of 10 battalions have at it's maximum (at full strenght) 10 thousand pop troops, but can also have, if very understrength, just 1000 troops or much worser, 100 troops. That is one of the main causes when an army that seems with many battalions be strong is still defeated by an army with far fewer battalions. How many troops 8:12 the defending army (4 battalions) have against the 3 battalion invasion army is for all of us unknown as you didn't check their troop numbers. The defender with 4 batalions at it's maximum 4000 troops can also have just 1000 troops.

Latest game so far, 1890 Japan no emperor yet, #2 in the world, largest navy by a little bit, have conquered half of Korea and half of Indonesia (fighting wars is the main reason for no emperor yet, wars delay honorable restoration from triggering). Can't wait to get so much infamy the world fights me after I get my Emperor.

Isolationism as the player is actually pretty strong, use it to build up your economy, as Japan at least its easy to conquer for oil and rubber, only reason I would end Isolationism is for the journal entry and for opium for your military(a little harder to conquer to get it). They may need to rework Isolationism, like maybe you can't conquer when you have it.

@@MrHellknightimp for opium invade the northern Vietnamese state and start pushing into China, the army is large but it's Napoleonic at best so you can utterly destroy it with some proper tech, and the large military power on paper means GPs are hesitant to commit large amounts of troops, Japan specifically is in a really good position to just stay isolationism the whole game

I figured out naval invasions pretty fast, but the underlying rules are really unclear. I assumed there was some sort of since limits, but I couldnt find any info. Also it seems completely random how many units actually arrive, which is very frustrating. As a rule, I just cant believe that Vicky3 came from the same company which has made EUIV. So much quality of life, so much info is missing. Case in point. Adding Wargoals... Seriously, why cant we just get a gui like EUIV so I dont have to manually check province names

One tip i have for trading is that it might not be a good idea to trade essential goods with big markets, france, uk, germany etc consumes a loooot of goods, so if you sell your tools to then, you never gonna have enough for yourself, making your tools capitalists rich but cloging your industrialization; the better idea to sell some consumer goods and some raw materials that you produce with a market advantage.

just remember who your trading things to. when your not building for instance you can trade off the tools you are not using. then when you need those tools back. cancel the trade route.

If you are building up your capital province and you see you need wheat for example and you build extra buildings or whatever does you excess if any flow over to your other provinces if they need some as well or do I need to go to each province to see what they need even if it is the same thing

So, too many radicals were the downfall of my first Prussia game. I decided I'd try Two Sicilies with the goal of ironing out that issue. A smaller country with a smaller population should be easier to handle, right? I understand the price of basic goods, making sure the lower strata pops have good jobs, etc. However, no matter what I do, the standard of living seems to only arbitrarily fluctuate between 10.6 and 10.7 and doesn't make any significant improvement -- except for when I paused construction and it went up from 10.9 to 11.4 with no explanation. Nothing was being built so nothing could have possibly changed the price of goods or employment (unless it had just caught up from before). Something is missing in my understanding.

Pops in unincorporated states don't have access to your institutions, so they don't get healthcare, education, police, etc. *and* they don't pay taxes. Depending on your colonial policy it maaay be worth it to keep a state that produces a lot of raw resources unincorporated to keep 'em cheap, especially with Colonial Exploitation, or if you've got the policy with the migration buff, to attract people to a state you need more pops in to fully exploit. 99 times out of 100 I'd say incorporating is better if you have the bureaucracy for it though.

12:00 pop needs are weird kindoff for example coffee is expensive bc there is probably like 5 buy orders and not a single sell order so its expensive bc you have non but coffe while being the good coffee is also the consumption type of luxery drink i think included with tea and wine maiby this means by getting coffee you can reduce the price tea bc its being supplemented same for clothes and cloth but clothes count for 1.333333 items of cloth in the clothing category same for wood and coal or wood and furnature by increasing pruduction of one you can decrease need for another so what a pop demands isn't what it might acualy use bc it might demand cloth but with an increase in clothes pruduction it will demand clothes bc they're of greater value same with coal and wood as a heating item a shortage of wood can thus be solved by building more power plants or coal mines this is almost never hinted at in the game you also don't know why a pop is buying a product for example are they buying wood for heating or as furnature this is also why the ai will most likely not trade products they don't already have bc there is no demand for them so their traderoute wouldent be big in size eventho the item could substitute another item for wich is high need and this is basicaly a thing for every item
