VICTORIAN DIARY- During Victorian times, enduring life as a convicted prisoner aboard an old vessel meant a starvation diet, overcrowding and disease would be your daily companions, along with hard labor. Let us not forget any punishment for infractions of rules! Decommissioned ships called hulks were located in various British harbors and used by the government to solve overcrowding issues in mainland prisons. The results were floating ships of horror!
