One thing I use the corkscrew for is as a hand-guard for using the main blade. By opening it, it can keep your hand from sliding forward onto the blade as it catches between your thumb and index finger. Give it a try!

Another use for the corkscrew is picking out a backlash from a baitcast fishing reel. It’s perfect for this, being polished and not super sharp on the tip. It doesn’t damage the line, and can really get in there to lift up those loops.

I've had a Victorinox "Officier Suisse" for many decades, without ever putting it to use, and I was not a fan of the "MacGuyver" TV series where he relied upon his Swiss Army Knife. However, at the ripe age of 77 (Imperial, not Metric), I've become more involved in learning about bushcrafting, and just recently, I've added my SAK to my keychain loop. Now I found YOU, explaining all the virtues of the knife, in so many ingenius/creative ways - so THANK YOU!

Loved the tips Felix! I use the corkscrew to undo tight knots in shoelaces, to remove wall raw plugs out the wall without damaging the plaster and on a Swiss Army knife with the corkscrew and a wood saw I screw the corkscrew into a 25mm dia long stick with the wood saw deployed so I can cut small dia tree branches up high out of reach! Lol 👍

Felix immler, meine Jungs sind 7 und 11. Ich habe ihnen dein Buch gekauft und seitdem schnitzen sie begeistert um die Wette. Bisher gab es auch noch keine Verletzungen. Ich als Victorinox Sammler und Benutzer bin darüber natürlich sehr stolz. Deine Tricks schaue ich mir gemeinsam mit den Jungs immer an und wir werden auch einiges davon umsetzen. In America, if Elderberry is hard to find in your neighborhood, Staghorn Sumac also has hollow stems. If you peel away the fuzzy bark the wood is white and has a pretty texture.

It makes a good knot pick. The end of the corkscrew can hook into rope or cord without cutting it, and then you can pull with the knife body for setting and loosening strands of a knot.

Hallo Felix, Danke für die Antwort. Hm, das würde man sehen, wenn man sie melkt. Wenn sie beim melken deine Stimme hört und dann auf einmal Quark rausdrückt. Ist sie fällig für die rote Couch. :-D :-D :-D
