NOTE: The title of this video was changed from "The Apaches Last Stand" thanks to a helpful comment from a viewer. Victorio's War was not actually the LAST STAND of the Apaches. They are still going strong even today. I was trying to be dramatic. This is the kind of thing I hope my audience will always tell me about

I feel awkward commenting because this is an area where I have a hole in my knowledge. I do appreciate the rabbit hole the sources this video cited lead me to, and the video is enjoyable. Like the woman warrior cited I remember hearing about her from that Mash article that your source cited & that was cool. So yeah, it's been cool.

This was a-GREAT-well informative video.I-SALUTE-you.I first became interested in the american west in grade school,we watched a video of the Nez Perce indians.I believe it was called: I Will Fight No More Forever. This film-BLEW-my little mind !!! LOL. I really admired Chief Joseph,a lot and I wanted the Nez Perce indians to escape into Canada. They were only a few miles from the border. I was very saddened as a child.

It was at the Battle of Fair Oaks, VA (1862), that Oliver O Howard's right arm was wounded and amputated, not at Chickamauga (1863).

I appreciate your honestly try to tell the past. That even Apaches oners your telling makes it even more honorarabl. Thank you for telling the history, what is needed to educat the "white Amerikans" about there own history what they didn't learn in school. It is a shame that the Native Tribes didn't get the retribution until today.

A couple of corrections. The apaches didn't come from the north, nor did they settle in warm springs. They came from the ancestral cave of warm springs that was there during younger dryas, and inhabited the local area for at least 10000 years before. You are basing migrations on the berengia theory which already has been disproven. 2. Athabaskan language didn't come from Alaska, it is true it is a North American language with roots 45000 years old. Southern athabaskan has more nauatl and Mayan mixtures from the time of immergence of younger dryas.

@nrgpirate
@nrgpirate Ай бұрын
@@MikeLuzzo-qd6jd false. I am an Athabascan speaker and I know my ancestry. Athabascan speakers did not come from Siberia, that is based on a fraudaulent theory used to get a grant from the Smithsonian, and to disenfranchise Natives. The migration is the other way around. Aluetian blood-line is unique and anomoly, never coming out of Africa. Native are from the Americas exclusively, including Athabaskan speakers and had spread out to the polynesian islands and south east asia, Siberia, and Nothern Europe, well over 10000 years ago. The archeo-linguistics have been proven to travel from east to the west, the research documented since the 1960's. That is the reason why Hanta Virus in south east asia is descendant from the dear mice vius with a marker of 30k years. It got there by boat traveling east to west before Younger-Dryas, infecting grain which is a common indicator of sea-faring. Anthropological studies have observed speciation, where by the further south into the Americas you go, the older and shorter the indigenous anthropological record.That has been proven as FACT, a FACT that rubs ugly to archeologists and anthropologist because it breaks their model of migrations. Observed in Northenrn America, Indigenous populations are taller, including eskimo. This indicates speciation, access to food resources and less predation leading into taller stature from the access of buffalo. A species goes from a smaller to larger over time. So whatever hogrwash you are basing it on, it isn't with the approval or authority of us Native folk. WE are not yours to objectify nor are we yours to give us our identity. We know who we are.

The Buffalo Soldier's were in a tough spot. They wanted to serve because they believed it would earn them respect in this country. They earned some respect, sure, but they also got used to do Washington's dirty work against the native people. The medal of honor winner got his reward only a few years before he died, the rest of his life the army completely forgot about him and did nothing to take care of him (and he needed it, he was very poor after his military career)

You had nothing to do with that war, besides we all humans been killing, looting, and stealing from each other for centuries. No one owns anyone anything regarding the past. But we should never repeat. We should keep moving forward for a better future.

They're sovereign citizens and receive their reparations every month 7-18 thousand I believe,& a lot of them are "5 dollar Indians" so playing the victim would bring unwanted attention to the racket . The treaty was signed for 40 acres and a mule , we're still waiting. One way or another the debt will be repaid I swear 🙏🏽🖤 RIP strange fruit
