Ram is an album by Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney, released in 1971, the only album credited to the pair. It was the second of the two albums McCartney released between leaving The Beatles and forming Wings. Future Wings drummer Denny Seiwell plays on the record, alongside the McCartneys and session musicians.
Three singles were released from the album - the American #1 hit "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey", the minor British hit "The Back Seat of My Car" and "Eat at Home", which was not released in either the United Kingdom or the United States.

i don't think that's the point. You rarely see any of the Beatles rembered as the greatest guitarist or singer, but that's what made them genius, they literally made the gretests songs ever, just by making sure those simple instruments and vocals were put together in the most insanely cohersive way. My favorite part of this song is Linda’s awesome backup vocals here. She’s so perfect paired with this song and McCartney’s voice. It makes the song sound so playful, balanced and fun. They were made for each other!

This could easily be one of the most underrated songs of not only this mans carreer, but of rock in general. The vocals are so experimental it blows my brains off. This mans capacity to create exeeds all comprehension of mine. Really amazing. Very thankful for your existance Paul, your music has really helped me to pose a world to myself that i can bear.

this song is heavy. love it. not a huge fan of the Beatles so I havent heard a lot of their work. This is a gem, among several others. Im a big metal and hard rock guy so I really appreciate this.

Paul was vacationing in Portugal and jammed with a local hotel band who was just making ends meet. He wrote a lovely song right then and there about jamming with his new friends and gave it to the band as a farewell gift. The band recorded the song and made that local band famous in Portugal and they sold tons of records. I saw a video interviewing the leader of that band and he was so grateful Paul changed all their lives forever in just a few hours.

@@reneperez2126 It was described as 'the nadir of rock music' Which is why it's my favourite. It was recorded at a time of unbelievable musical snobbery and McCartney didn't give a shit. He just wrote great songs regardless of what everyone else was doing. And time has proved him right.

At the time this album was heavy criticized, even Ringo said "there's not one good track on it" when it first came out. But nowadays it gets the recognition it deserves. As one if his best solo albums up there with Band on the Run and Flaming Pie.

I never thought of Ringo the same after I heard he said that. He really had the audacity to say that when he doesn't have one song in his entire career that's as good as any song on RAM. Even John liked some parts of RAM and that's saying something because John doesn't like anything.

I was listening to Ram when I was 14 yrs old on my first portable cassette playerr in a bread truck that my father converted into a camper and when I listen to it now, 41 yrs later, I go right back there ! I love this song, the entire album is gold to my soul. TY PAUL and WINGS ! God Bless You !

How any human can sing with such a raw voice is difficult to grasp. How that same human can also sing songs like "Yesterday" or "Mother Nature's Son" is just a mystery. Throw in the mix that the same man also plays a lot of instruments - while singing mind you, and has written some the best songs ever, is impossible to comprehend. I'm so glad to have walked the Earth while McCartney was alive. One brief moment with him 20 years back is a memory I will cherish for always.

Можно сколь угодно спорить кто в битлах был лучше, кто не очень. Одно неоспоримо - это редкое явление в музыкальном мире того времени, когда встретились эти четверо ( + конечно дж. мартин) и не имея музыкального образования поставили на уши почти весь шарик. А Пол однозначно был главным конструктором.

McCartney's voice was never better than on this song and Back Seat of MY Car. Both from the Ram album which was panned by critics when released. In retrospect, I think it's his 2nd most complete album next to Band on the Run.

Just heard this today for the first time on Sirius XM Beatles station (6/26/23). I am absolutely floored by Paul's vocal (Oh Darling voice, Do it in the Road voice, but exploding). What a stretch for Paul to experiment with what his voice can do. Amazing hard rock song! And Linda's BGV is dead on edgy throughout.

the best singer in the Beatles, undoubtedly. If you want to hear another mindblowing vocal performance from him, search for the song "shake a hand". He was 57 at the time of the recording, and belting notes like he was 30 years younger.

Paul is master of the melody. Nobody did it better than he did....EVER! As far as best complete songwriter ( lyrics, melody, chord construction and hook lines) in history.....you can make a good case for Paul, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Bernie Taupin and a few others and there would be no wrong answer but when it comes to melody....they all bow down to Sir Paul.

I do love it when Paul has his mental moments. Apropos of nothing, my daughter was doing some research for an article she was writing on fashion houses. This is the exact copy of Stella's wikipedia entry. 'Stella Nina McCartney OBE (born 13 September 1971) is an English fashion designer. She is a daughter of American photographer, musician, and animal rights activist Linda McCartney and singer-songwriter Sir Paul McCartney. Linda gets first billing as an activist and musician before mentioning Dad, but no mention of him being in the most famous group in the world :) How soon people forget :)

I said this on the Beatle Bible forum and I think it bears repeating. This song, this wild, wickedly wonderful song, is a delightfully funny, crying in your beer, pity party MASTERPIECE good time, served up and delivered by THE BEST songwriting genius of our times! McCartney paints a picture of his wallowing in drunken reverie of bitter breakups,(Beatles) getting left behind (adios songwritng partner) pelted with tomatoes (raked over coals by ex bandmates,Yoko,Klein,music critics and fans alike)he felt like beatletomato soup, pureed and spit out by everybody (this is a pity party) "A rattle of rats had awoken, the sinews the nerves and the veins" (The piling on of everybody on the bash Paul and his music bandwagon, really hurt!) "I stood with a knot in my stomach as I gazed at that terrible sight of two youngsters concealed in a barrel sucking monkberry moon delight" (In hindsight he could see himself and John in cased in a naivete bubble, unaware the fountain of fame they were drinking from was the craziness of Beatlemania, the tiresome phenomena that started to take the fun out of Toppermost of the Poppermost "When I leave my pajamas to Billy Budapest" I think are Paul's subtle phrasings, I hear 'When I leave my PaulJohnmas (dramas)to Bully, Boo the Pest in my head (poor, Paul, with his best "Don't cry for me Argentina" musical deception, hidden in plain sight! This song demonstrates how McCartney can camaflage dress his "woe is me" in the funniest, cleverest, let's have a good time party than anybody ever! That, my friends is True Genius for my money!

Aberinkulas & George Hopper_ Paul likes to compare his lyrics to a painting. He himself has explained that he sometimes changes the explanations for some of his lyrics from time to time depending on how he feels because he doesn't want the listener stifled by "set in stone" meanings when so many people experience his songs their own way. In other words, there is no "one right way" to understand this song. Paul is genius. His songs are universal.
