@@LaughingOrange In Norway you need a bachelor to become a police. 1year school, 1year practise with active police (to see if you are fit for the job), 1 year school again. Quality is important. I know you Americans have let your elected politicians cut public costs alot, cuz of the tax reduction to the rich and big businesses that are founding your politicians to do so. In Norway a politician have to publicly announce any gift over 500 NOK/45 USD. And its looked down upon in society and looked on as corruption, several politicians have had to step down cuz of it. But in America its the norm. Its time for you Americans to wake up and start taxing the rich and big businesses alot alot alot more and privatise railroads and other stuff for the greater good.

@merlith4650
@merlith4650 4 ай бұрын
to add to this and correct the guy above. it's not Norwegian slang, although it's often used very informally in modern day, it's the old term for psychiatric hospital. the word translates literally word for word as "mental/mind" (sinn-), "sickness" (syke-), "house" (hus). the house of the mentally sick or sick minded. the usage of the word "sinnsyk" in Norwegian is equivalent to how the word "insane" is used in English.

I was born in the same part of Norway this guy is from, as he's speaking with a clear Northern Norwegian accent, and Norwegians up there are (in)famous throughout the rest of Norway for their coarse language whether they're angry or not. As an example, calling someone a "Jævla hestkuk" - "Diabolical horsecock" can depending on tone of voice and body language be a grievous insult or a joyous greeting between old friends. Also there was a time where a young officer from the south was stationed up north for a couple of years and arrested a man who called him a diabolical horsecock after having been fined. In the courtroom, the man was let go (but he still had to pay his original fine) and the judge told the young officer: "If you're going to work up here, this is something you're just going to have to get used to."

American Police can't be like this cause of their gun laws and such that there is so much guns in America. Everywhere else can be calm and forgiving cause they know their lives at at stake , just put yourself in their shoes and understand what they go through life and death situations everyday.
@QuackersMcCrackers
@QuackersMcCrackers 4 жыл бұрын
@@denyewll3153 Yeah I feel like Chandler is in the right here. It's not so much the use of guns, but more about the culture which leads to the widespread use and indoctrination of guns in the first place. Think of it like this: Whilst it's true that Norwegian policeman don't have to worry about being shot as much as their American counterparts, and that yes, a reason for this is due to the lack of guns, someone in Norway could just as easily yield a knife, or a hammer, or perhaps acid. Take it from me, as someone from the UK, the danger is still prevalent even if the guns are not. To put it another way, it's not the guns that the USA policeman should be worried about, but the people that yield that' and as for the people that field them, the American police actually seem much more accountable than the citizens themselves, since their obviously the one's who are most armed, yet daily I see at least one video in my feed whereby an American policeman brutally victimizes the public they are meant to serve, and I saw several daily at the height of the protesting. Afterall, the police involved in the death of George Floyd were a group of four. Thus it is not only a few bad apples that spoil the bunch, every cop there seems rotten. They act as a group, and carry themselves like gang members, rather than as actual policeman. To clarify a point, however, I don't claim that every cop is bad in America, but it seems like the majority are. There are videos out there too of American cops displaying heroic acts, but unfortunately, they seem to be vastly outnumbered by the cops who are willing to victimize its own community. And whilst the cops themselves should take some of the blame, they shouldn't be blamed for it all, as their only the way they are because of the culture they were raised in when they themselves were children.

@@moonliteX Yeah. In Norway ''Du er en pudding!'', directly translated to ''You are a pudding/jelly'' is correctly translated to ''You are soft'', because that is the meaning behind the sentence, when someone calls you a ''Pudding'' in Norwegian, they don't refer to that you are actually a pudding/jelly as in the desert, but it means that you are ''soft like a pudding cup'' sort of thing. Another sentence with the same meaning behind it is if you call someone, ''Du er en blautfisk'', blaut meaning something soft or wet, often refered and used in a sentence to describe something wet, but ''Blautfisk'' is refering to a ''soft fish'', something with less substance, or ''soft''.

As a Swede who has been drunk in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany and the USA I can honestly say that every European countries cops treated me and my friend with the respect two drunken fools deserve. No violence just a quick transport to the drunk tank/home with some genuin friendships made on the way with the police. Got arrested and ( not really beaten but pushed) treated really ruff in New Orleans - USA. Same in Las Vegas and in Florida. I get that crime is more serious in the states but damn. A little respect and restraint should be possible. No need to put you hand on your gun and go all Hitler shouting on me dammit. I was blind drunk and urinating on a tree not pointing an AK47 at you....

Larum Dexsterium Sounds about right, but Finnish cops are the nicest to drunken fools. And that's coming from me, a Swede. The way the US cops treated us was like if me and my friend was armed and hostile. Such pointless aggression is not needed to get two drunk guys of the street. Most of Europe ( I can add Italy, Belgium and France to my list now) has treated us just fine. A quick check to make sure we were ok and a check of our ID's and away we went. No violence, no shouting, no guns. Just some good cops doing their job. ( And to all you who might be asking why the hell I'm drunk all over the globe, me and my best friend is on a beer trip. A long and funny beer tasting trip. 228 brands/sorts tasted so far. We are aiming at 300. )
