I understand parents wanting to protect their kids, but this is too far! Not being able to watch something you like/interested in, not being able to have friends, having the mindset that every friend is your enemy, Even having to ask permission to go to the freaking bathroom, NO. This is basically raising a prisoner, not even your kid anymore. This is insanity. Its true what they say, “the overprotective parents raise the best liars”

So true! My daughter’s best friend has very over protective parents, and I told my daughter to be patient with her, as she’s also an only child. I also told my daughter she may have to give her some guidance in their coming of age periods, because her bff is going to want to go wild with any bit of freedom she may get!

Children need unconditional love from their parents and to protect them from harm at all costs. But lying to your children to protect them is not right because they will find out sooner or later. Keeping secrets from your children will not only hurt you, but your children as well. Never lie to your children about anything because the truth will come out one way or another. Always let love the way ❤😌🌺

I don't know who is worse: an overprotective parent or an abusive/neglectful parent. But, kids choose whom they are going to become regardless of their parents. Parents need to realize that their kids are not going to have the same experiences that they had in the past.

I've known parents who were WAY too overprotective of their children & it only backfired. Now that the kids are older, they are acting out & rebellious, because of how they were raised. Nothing wrong with being concerned & careful, but smothering your child isn't healthy, neither is trying to make them feel guilty for wanting to do normal things, such as have friends or use a cell phone. I know it's a scary world, but lying to your kids is only hurting them, not helping in their upbringing. Be honest, firm, understanding, open, patient, loving & kind. Thank you for another wonderful video!♥️ I always look forward to your latest content.

Keeping your children from experiencing the outside world will only strain the bond between a parent and a child. It’s better to be a protective and caring parent rather than being overbearing. The daughter moved out of house when she turned 18 to finally escape her mother’s overprotective nature. It took the mother a decade to realize why her daughter doesn’t visit her since her departure. The daughter remained single her entire life to break the vicious cycle. She’s living her life working as a car saleswoman by day and as a massage therapist by night giving gratification to clients. Here’s what could’ve happened if the mother made better choices: ( basically the opposite of what’s shown in the video )

What a valid lesson. I actually love this take. Its true what they say. Too much of something is bad. Too much freedom is bad. But too much protection is bad. The important thing is to balance giving freedom and protecting your kids. So they experience the world but always have a safe place to come back. Something we should all be doing in the future for our next generation.

My mom was extremely over protective over me but not my brothers. Wasn’t aloud to have a boyfriend until I was 16, and when I got one I couldn’t hang out with him outside of school/school related events & she’d take my phone & laptop at night so I wouldn’t text him late & so she could monitor what him and I were talking about. I wasn’t aloud to stay the night with any of my friends, and I had a 6pm curfew up until a month before I turned 18. The last 6 months of me being 17, I kinda went buck wild. My friend bought me a secret phone, so I’d have one at night. I started sneaking out, smoking weed & drinking. It really is true over baring parents create the sneakiest kids 🤣 meanwhile my older & younger brother were aloud to go to parties, stay with their friends, wear whatever they wanted, have girlfriends as teens. Lmao. I admitted a lot to my mom once I grew up and started having kids.. but she still doesn’t know everything I did 🤣

If I were Brandy, I would've cussed the mom out and yelled at her! And I would call her by her first name and not hug her while leaving. My mom was/is almost like that because she's Haitian, but she still let me have a phone and she didn't say anything about the movies I watched, although she did comment on a few TV shows. And the mother could've easily paused the movie if Brandy had to use the bathroom. It's no big deal.

We never went to the movies and I ended up getting raped I didn’t tell my mom what actually happened until I graduated from high school. I understand that it's every parent's job to protect their children. But one day in the future, it comes to a point where they're NOT children anymore. They're not babies anymore. They're not a daddy's boy/girl or a momma's boy/girl anymore. They're fully-grown adults that are old enough to protect themselves, have moved on, and have set up their own boundaries. Whether your son/daughter goes to college, gets married, has children, gets a job promotion, or whatever, AT LEAST be happy for them instead of being too insecure and overprotective.

I know this obviously isn't real, but if my mom had told me that she watched some thriller movie and she ended up in a mental institution for 3 days, I'd have a hard time believing that. And the fact that she didn't say how she ended up in there is a red flag.

Honestly if my mom lied to overprotective me, I would feel confused constantly.

I would of left the house too. The mother should of been honest with her daughter. Explain why not to do this or that and what the consequences could be. Not lie to her. I watched scary movies. They did make me physco. 🤣😂😅

Helicopter parents are the absolute worst! In my personal opinion this in some way is child abuse. You're smothering your child and holding them back from their full potential, and you are isolating them from reality
