"Vide Cor Meum" è una composizione di Patrick Cassidy, basata sul sonetto di Dante Alighieri " A ciascun alma presa" (Vita Nuova, 3)
E' parte della colonna sonora del film Hannibal.
Le immagini utilizzate sono tratte dallo sceneggiato RAI Vita di Dante - 1965 - e precisamente riguardano il secondo incontro di Dante con Beatrice, giacchè fu tale episodio ad ispirare il sonetto in questione.
Le parole della canzone di P. Cassidy sono qui riportate. Il sonetto di Dante è contenuto in coda al video.

It's from the movie "Hannibal." Patrick Cassidy created this piece for a fictitious opera about Dante's "La Vita Nuova." It's based on the 1st sonnet in the 3rd chapter, "In his arms, my lady lay asleep, wrapped in a veil. He woke her then and trembling and obedient she ate that burning heart out of his hand. Weeping I saw him then depart from me."

It is also played after the death of King Baldwin IV of Israel in the movie “Kingdom of Heaven.” Very interesting and tragic history of King Baldwin, sadly although a brilliant figure he is known more by the leper King.

It really is stunning. It has stuck with me my entire life since first hearing it in Hannibal. I prefer the original recording vocally, but this is still beautiful.

Dante put to us the beauty of a nurturing woman's love the one that captures and enslaves your heart, he touches on platonic love, the total dedication to his vision of bliss, feeling like this... Is love at the first sight, human chemistry that glue two being together, Patrick Cassidy made the most accurate musical representation of THAT MOMENT.

I feel in love with my wife in writing her back and forth. We hadn't met in the flesh for a few months then we finally met in person. I had asked her to go on a date for dinner ...she turned me down. I was puzzled..but I told her she can always write me and I will respond regardless. We met and fell in love eventually. I asked her why did you turn me down for dinner? She said. I was falling in love with you in writings but I was afraid when we met..... you would not feel the same and my dream would have been over. It was the most beautiful thing I ever heard.

Amazing music that grabs hold of you in a way that you can't prevent it happening. Then it makes you have all your emotions running around in your head. What a wonderful performance and I'm sure many will use it for their funerals. It touches you in every way possible. AMAZING.

The words comes from dates inferno. Patrick Cassidy scored the words and music based on dantes allegheiri works.. You can find this in Hannibal and Kingdom of Heaven soundtracks.

Musica stupenda che penetra e rapisce l'anima ( incredibile che sia la colonna sonora di un film molto inquietante). Molto ben accostate le immagini al rallentatore. Suggerisco all'autore del video di silenziare la lettura dei versi poetici finali che stride con tanta precedente e bella armonia ( per altro sono recitati con timbro "didattico" e poco coinvolgente)

Twain or Trinity ? This is so beautiful. You cannot enjoy this alone and also need at least three hands to applaud it. To many it is effective, to some - including me - it is affective.
