You can simplify your explanations by noticing that a:b= 3:5 is equivalent to a:b = 12:20. Then c:d = 4:7 is equivalent to c:d = 20:35, thus you get a:b:c = 12:20:35.

Answer 24 : 40 : 30 : 45 (6:05) Did it differently. A:B =3 : 5 B:C=4 : 3 C:D= 2 : 3 find A:B:C:D ? A:B:C =12 : 20 : 15 since A:C =4 : 5 and B:C = 4 : 3 from(A:B:C= 12: 20 : 15) AND C:D= 2 : 3 then 8/5 : 8/3 : 2 : 3 multiply 4/5 and 4/3 by 2 8 : 40/3 : 10 : 15 (multiply both sides by 5 to get rid of 5 in the denominator) 24: 40: 30 : 45 (multiply both sides by 3 to get rid of 3 in the denominator) A:B:C:D = 24 40 30 45 Answer 6:05

4:14:21 3:42 A: B 2:7 B: C 2:3 find A:B: C A is 2/7 of B since B: C is 2:3 find 2/7 of 2 which is 4/7 hence the ratio of A:B: C is 4/7:2:3 (this actually is an answer), but one can rid of the 4/7 by multiply all three by 7 hence answer = 4 : 14: 21
