Green Meadows Elementary School in Hampden MA USA was awarded a grant for 2,500$ through MassCultural Council during the 2023-2024 school year.
The Mural was painted as part of a beautification project on the wall in our School Cafeteria Space. The mural can be 'read' from left to write illustrating the life cycle of the Monarch Butterfly on it's journey across the North American Continent and over three countries.
Our school hosted John Matlock Muralist (Pure Imagination Murals) for a week. Homeroom Classes could stop by for Q & A sessions with John as he worked. All classes got to observe the process of a mural from start to finish during their scheduled lunch blocks.
The Mural was painted in the Fall of 2023. In the Spring of 2024 our school hosted a student art show with 1 piece of art on display per student. We kicked off our art show with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the public to see the Mural on display. We dedicated the Mural to past, present, and future students of Green Meadows School.
