@user16 That was not the point here bro. The point was that the copper failed and ALLOWED his taxpayer-funded vehicle to be stolen. You really seem to be on a mission to try and catch people in some sort of stupid gotcha, while avoiding the underlying reality. I have seen you do this multiple times now, and it is ALWAYS in a story where a cop failed. Hmmm

The owner of the car is liable for any damage it causes. The insurance of the car is attached to the owner of the car. It does not matter who was driving, the owner of the car was negligent for not securing the car in the first place.

In new Mexico there is no qualified immunity. The state officer can sue sierra county for being hit head on. New mexico does have a secure unit policy
