Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries chairman, and his wife Nita Ambani today hosted the arangetram ceremony of their to-be daughter-in-law Radhika Merchant at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai. Ms Merchant is the daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant. She got engaged to Anant Ambani in 2019. An arangetram is a dancer's completion of their formal training in classical dance and their debut on-stage performance.

As a bharatanatyam dancer for 7 years i think she should improve in aramandi and not draging her feet and also to improve the body postures..... I appreciate her for keeping the cultural dance but also to improve ittt......

Is this culture, performing on stage with half baked knowledge, it shows how committed the rich brat is to learning a traditional dance form which requires dedication, years of learning and practice. People who know and watched even amateurs perform will tell what a clumsy performance it is. It is not upholding culture but belittling it. Pathetic

if the video was about her practise or even if it was her first time in dancing bharathanatyam it wouldnt seem so shocking. the fact that dancers practise a lot and improve a lot from their initial performance in bharathanatyam for arangetram so as a dancer anyone would be confused by the way of her dance, her posture and expressions. no intention of offending anyone just stating the facts

Galat nachne se naa nachna achhi baat hoti hai. Its a shame for her to dance wrong in such a big stage. Ambanis could have hire even better dancers. Like that also our culture would have been represented. And in many parts of india, our culture is nourised, people do so much hard work in kerala kalamandalam, in univerisities, but people doesnt even know whats going on, rather they blindly support this kind of pathetic minded people

Criticism is because she claims that this is her arangnetram. Arangnetram is a performer which youbcan only do after atleast 7-8 strict bharatnatyam practice. If she has undergone strict training for such long period of time, this dance is absolutely unacceptable for that much time. If this is not arangnetram and she is performing just after learning for like 6 months, better not do it. Simple

The criticism is because no teacher would allow a regular student to perform arangetram with this quality of dancing. Years of study and practice goes into arangetram. What you see is a case of exception that comes with money. No rigour or talent but paid her way into doing an arangetram because she can.

Worst bharatnatyam ever seen. Even small children in youth festival dance much better. People watching this show have no real sense of dance and it's nuances. It's a shame in the name of classical dance

as a classical dancer i do respect her for respecting our culture but calling this unpracticed, half baked performance "ARANGETRAM" its unacceptable. A dancer undergoes at least a decade of pure dedication and determination towards the art to precise every single limb to nerve moment for him/her to be qualified for arangetram. Looking at the way radhika moves its so clear that she hasn't gotten enough practice or knowledge for this performance to be called arangetram

The concept of arangetram has a very deep respect and importance to those who have learned baratanatyam. If you're not ready don't just do something half baked and expect praise! This is like expecting a gold medal in swimming when you only know to float and not actually swim!

As I was a bharatnatyam dancer for past 10 years , I think her hand placements , eye movements and complete energetic dance with confidence lacks. Arangetram is not a joke, it should be done with more practice and hardwork not with lack of practice and lots of money to impress her mother in law but appreciable to hold upon our culture
