Many people know that Alexander Hamilton is buried at Trinity Church-but few realize that, in his life, he was an active and vital part of the Trinity community. In this video tour, learn about Hamilton’s life at Trinity Church. You’ll see the places where Hamilton spent time as a new immigrant, documents showing his participation in church life, and the final resting places of Hamilton, his wife Eliza, his son Philip, his sister-in-law Angelica Schuyler Church, and his friend Hercules Mulligan. There’s even a mystery or two to ponder.

MISS MAYRA I saw his grave sometime last week while on vacation. Since the graveyard used to be much bigger, they say his body could possibly be under the street behind Hamiltons grave.

What's funny is we now think of Hamilton as a guy who looks and speaks a lot like Lin Manuel Miranda. In reality he was a pasty powdery haired white guy like the rest. I love the play, but in real life Hamilton was a shitty person who worked tirelessly to tear down everyone who didn't suck up to him. His family, especially the one he married into, had many slaves and he didn't do anything to free them, much less speak out about their plight. You don't have to believe me, it's in nearly all of his writings, which are plentiful. Had Washington not protected him he would have been cast out and ostracized from the founders. What would you call a guy who throws his wife under the bus to protect his "good name"? Again, Lin's play is a masterpiece and I'm glad to have seen it.

I remember when I was visiting New York City on a school trip, at the beginning of that day, that my tour director said that she had a surprise that she would take us to before we went to Battery Park. And we stopped at Trinity Church and visited Alexander and Eliza, since she knew that there were people on the tour who liked Hamilton (mostly me and my friends). But it was amazing that we got to see Hamilton's beautiful grave, and we got to see Eliza along with him. Unfortunately we didnt see Angelica. Since we couldnt find her.. and its really sad that Phillip's grave spot is unknown that he doesnt have a grave stone. But at least he's remembered by people now and still..

I’m so mad at myself because this is right next to the 9/11 memorial and I was right next to Trinity Church when I went to New York in 2017 but I hadn’t watched Hamilton yet (Ik I suck lol) so I didn’t go and I just passed by and now I realize I am SO STUPID!😂😂

I have a question! You said King’s College is now Colombia university. But on google maps it says that there’s still is a King’s College in New york. Should I also visit that one when I’m going to new york?

The King's College currently in New York has nothing to do with Columbia University. It's a completely different school, so I wouldn't go out of your way to visit it. However, you might walk by it if you go to see Hamilton's grave, because The King's College is right near Trinity Church.

It's a traditional way for people to show respect when visiting a grave. Jewish people will put a small stone on a grave as a sign of respect and remembrance.
