Jude Southerland Kessler is one of the world’s leading experts on the life of John Lennon, and is currently in the middle of writing 10 books covering John’s entire life in thorough detail. She’s always a joy to talk to, discussing any aspect of John’s life, and you can tell that continuing to learn and educate the world about John is her biggest passion! Her 3rd Lennon book “She Loves You” covering the period April 1963-March 1964 has just been made into her first audio book with professional voice actor Scott R. McKinley handling the voices of 183 people including all 4 Beatles, Brian Epstein, Neil Aspinall, George Martin and others. In our conversation, Jude discusses this period in John’s life when the Beatles broke big all over the U.K., leading to world domination the following year. Scott talks about the work involved in studying the various key people captured in this book.

I met both Jude, and Scott at this years Beatlesfest. Both were incredible to talk to, and of course, very kind.

Jude's books changed the way I think about John. When I think about the early Beatles albums, it's John's songs that are my favorites. Every time I see an interview with her I have a deeper appreciation for those early John songs where he shares so much especially on Beatles for Sale.

Of all the people I ‘ve heard who had documented the Beatles’ many stories , aside from Mark Lewisohn , Jude Kessler is far and away the best

She nailed Paul he wanted to be a Star while the other s just got burned out. Paul is still like that today always pleasing

Ken makes a very good point I'd never thought of. "We weren't going to America till we had a number one," is always portrayed as the whole thing, but it makes sense that they'd only TOUR off the back of a number one. How galling it would have been for them to do Ed Sullivan, then go and play a string of disheartening dates in empty theatres and auditoriums across the States. Unfortunately, as much as I like hearing Jude speak, her ideas about almost every song John wrote and sang being about Julia stretches credibility. Also, being English and with an ear for accents and voices, Scott's Beatles' impressions aren't very good.

Scott seems to be under the impression that the Beatles were 2 dimensional cartoon characters... there should probably be a rule that only British & Irish people attempt Beatles impersonations...

Doesn't sound like any Beatle l know...sounds like bad reflections of the yellow Submarine accents!!!

The voices sound like copies of the picks in YELLOW SUBMARINE, nothing like the real Beatles voices. So in my opinion the accuracy for the present voices is misplaced. Sorry guys, objectivity is the order of the day, pretending that the authenticity is accurate is being silly! It's the voices from YELLOW SUBMARINE being emulated!
