Andrew, I first stumbled upon your tutorials when I was a kid in high school, and it honestly changed the course of my life forever. I graduated from liberal arts university and have been living the dream as a freelance motion designer in the SF Bay Area. I can't thank you enough for over a decade of sharing your contagious passion, hilarious tangents, and drive toward high quality!

I've watched a lot of tutorials from you and others over the years. I've fallen out of video work because I wasn't able to find enough clients to keep it going. But lately in my free time I've been getting back into it. This tutorial brought me so much more knowledge than just the effect, but how I can use a lot of these other parts to make other things come to life! Thank you so much Andrew for all the hard work you've given us over the years!

Holy.. When I first looked at the thumbnail and preview videos I swore that it would be a plugin presentation. Then you did it all on hand and making sure the effect is procedural. Your videos are the most helpful for anyone ever and I love you.

The most impressive part of this tutorial is the fact that Andrew was able to look at all these seemingly basic tools in After Effects and use them to create something so high end looking. I'm extremely impressed with your resourcefulness and creativity to even think of this. It makes me want to go through every single effect in AE to see what I can do with them. That's the best part of your tutorials. All the useful little tricks that can be applied to other things.
@moboxgraphics5 жыл бұрын
What surprises me isn't the outcome, it's more that you seem to remember every step like you've done it 1,000,000 times before.

You'll find that if you do something for long enough, put enough time and effort into it then it will be second nature to know what does what to achieve the effect and look you want.... Best thing to do is sometimes to just mess about with settings and effects and you can surprise even yourself at what you can create.

He doesn't memorize the "steps" (though he probably did sit down to create a step-by-step outline for the video). That's where many people watching VFX tutorials go wrong. It's not about memorizing steps. It's about knowing how to use the tools you have to get from point A to point B and I'm sure he's used those thousands of times. For thousands of similar and differing results.

I love how Andrew uses different methods to get to an effect. Not only the console, but also the menus and the search function that's a small thing, but it makes it easier for complete beginners to learn the software and the different menus!

Your videos are as EPIC as your work, and nobody can hold a candle to ya! I learn at a fast pace and other videos have erroneous junk and bad jokes which I don't have time for. Thanks for the tut! I love procedural projects. Sometimes the stuff I want to change are somewhat scattered all over the main comp. What I usually do is adding a *Null-Layer* at the top of my comp. I call it settings. In this layer I add all the Expression Controls to change rotation, colors, etc. That way I only have top open one layer to make any adjustments.
