Interesting video. I have seen this video many times and just thought it was a basic dance music video. It was cool to hear how much more complex it was then I had thought.

So cool, was waiting for this one! The editing itself is mostly straightforward, but can you imagine *planning* this thing? 8:15 in particular there's no cut between her alone vs. the group in the mirror, but the camera feels handheld. They must've superimposed a different mirror shot, but mimicked the camera almost perfectly? Maybe handheld shake added in post? Love simple but well-executed videos like these.

Not sure if you caught it but at 10:22 they did another mirror trick. When she does the back bend, her reflection has a man bent over supporting her weight but he doesn’t appear in the main shot. Took me a couple of times to notice it.

what blows my mind is the masking out of the camera with having the single mirrors with the lines between them. I can imagine its easy to get a fill for like a whole solid but with that line in between i think its harder. I am exited for her new video wich comes out tonight

Hiya! Could you expand on how the artistic direction and the elements of the MV that tie into this idea of "escapism" that Houdini was so well known for? I agree with your points on the song being an absolute JAM and your insight into the technicalities of videography is salient, but I can't wrap my head around the artistic direction. So many of the visual aspects: dancers "disappear " and then "reappear", showing us something different on the mirror versus what she does etc. tell a story that resonates with "trick of the eye" magic or optical illusions, like we are being deceived or tricked rather than actual "escapism" magic. I'm curious I could also be missing /misinterpreting smth :)
