It makes no sense. Airdrop is another issue. Idk how these large tech companies don’t have a budget allocated to this. I’d rather have that work smoothly than 20 more megapixels on the camera

Try clicking on the video and go through that same menu, for some reason the option doesn’t show up on the folder menu

For all you guys editing 4k vertical reels in premiere and not getting them saved on your phone, Icloud - send a copy - imessage to yourself, and magically you could save the video.

Same issue, thanks for mentioning. Saved the reel in premier as 1080x1920 instead of 4K and now it saves to my camera roll from google drive. Strange problem, hope it gets resolved.

Thank you so much! I test-recorded a video with HEVNC (h.265) instead of h.264, it wouldn’t let me download so I thought maybe it was the file size. I changed the encoder to h.264 and it worked! 🎉🎉

Thanks for the video. The only workaround I have found is to hit open in then save to files. Then screen record (which you could do from google too) crop it in photos app to retain original size. Then post. 😂 absolutely horrific

Wow really? At least we know it's happening on both photo and video. I have no idea in regards to the Drive app. But my workaround for this has been using iCloud Drive on Mac, then accessing through the FILES app on iPhone. I use Notion for everything so I sometimes put the photo in a notion card. Then i can download it on my phone pretty easily.

I don’t know if you’ll get to this but this is my problem: my drive is letting me save one video in particular that is about 4mbs of storage, the other ones are slightly larger but no more than 50mb. So it let me download the smaller one and it saved to camera roll, my other videos will say they’re saving and won’t show up in my camera roll. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app and still nothing

1) do you have storage available on the device itself? 2) is your internet connection being interrupted while downloading? You could try turning off the Wi-Fi and try using your data. 3) try Dropbox if this doesn’t work. Super smooth to upload from computer and then download to your phone from the app

Did you try exporting the file again through a different program? Whether it’s iMovie or QuickTime, if you put the video through there, the exported version should work

1. Make sure your phone software is also up to date 2. Turn wifi OFF, and try downloading it on cellular data 3. If it's still not working, I would use dropbox lol. I've had such an easier time with it Lemme know if any of these end up working!

I understand exporting it from QuickTime if it’s already saved on my latptop but my issue is that this file was shared with me by a colleague on the drive and now I need to save it on my phone or iPad so I can edit it on iMovie and it’s refusing to download, please help!

Try deleting the drive app and transferring again, if not I would use Dropbox in an emergency. Their app almost always works from computer to mobile

Sometimes with video if you send a copy via text message on IOS, you can go back through the messages and save it (I have confirmed this with a 2 minute video that was exported originally from premiere as h264) BUT I did try this a few months ago with a 10 minute video and it was unable to save to camera roll. Hopefully this helps 1 person that fits in this niche category lolol

What is the solution straight out of premiere? Clearly Quicktime is doing something to the file to make IOS accept it. So what is the "It". I followed your method and it just made the file a .mov vs my exported .mp4 and it compressed the bitrate

Try dragging your file into iCloud Drive. Then on your phone open up the FILES app. See if that workaround helps

in a worst case scenario you could screenshot it. But honestly try dropbox if possible. It's so much faster and smoother for file transferring from computer to mobile

Sorry you’re still dealing with this. Honestly I’ve been testing Dropbox for probably 9 months now for downloading video and photo onto mobile devices. Never experienced an issue like Google Drive’s when doing so. I know it could be an annoying workaround but sometimes it’s way faster to make the switch

PC to iPhone? It’s gotten even worse with drive in the last few months. I switched over to Dropbox finally. It works way smoother on both mobile and desktop.

@@cloudwolf4 I’m finding that it’s still essential for docs, sheets, and files like that. But Dropbox is better for the transferring AND storage. Both cheaper and more fluid. Google makes it difficult to get more storage for GSuite accounts, and they have barely any support for issues like this

Is it a really large file? Bc something like 2.5 gb would spin for around 2:45. Try deleting the app off your phone. Redownloading it. Then try the “save video” again. Curious to see if that does it for you

@@bango9935 okay gotcha if there’s no storage on your phone, you’ll delete stuff off your camera, apps, or upgrade your iCloud storage in settings. It sounds like you have enough space in Google Drive. It’s just freeing up the space on your phone or adding iCloud storage to add space

Typical Apple behavior lol, you shouldn’t need QuickTime though. The equivalent for windows would be the window media player. But honestly just use Dropbox for download to mobile if you can switch

One more fix to try - sign out of your gmail accounts in the drive app + in the MAIL settings (settings -> mail -> accounts -> delete account). Then re-add / sign back in

Idk honestly with the Drive app. I recommend just working around it with iCloud Drive on Mac to the FILES app on your iPhone. Or try Notion, that works well for shorter videos

This doesn-t solve anything, you're basically rendering in a lower quality from 4K to 1080p and thats why its only working. I need to download the video in 4K, without changing quality.

Yeah in that case it’s not so helpful. But that’s the point of this thread. If you find something that works better definitely let us know. I eventually switched to Dropbox and haven’t had any issues yet. Much faster computer to mobile transfer too

Did you try deleting the Drive app, redownloading it, then trying to download your pic?

Frustrating. iOS is the worst. I tried this on my Andriod and it worked just fine. But now my Andriod is lost and I have to rely on my iPhone. Every single thing I've tried, nothing worked. I've waited hours for my video to process on Google Drive, and afterwards tried to save the video. But no. Completely wasted my time. A couple months ago, I used Dropbox, but I don't remember it working... it probably didn't. I would try again but it's saying to pay for a trial??.. which I'm not gonna pay for the chance of it not working. I am completely hopeless now... nothing's working and I'm about to give up because this is taking forever :/

Idk honestly aside from deleting the app and redownloading. Screw google drive. The workaround is to use iCloud Drive to shuttle this to the FILES app on your iPhone if you're using Mac
